Put your skills to the test and enjoy the gorgeous mountain scenery that Way of the Hunter has to offer. Choose from a wide variety of hunting gear and set your aims on any prey within your sights. It might sound cruel, but that's why you're doing this in a virtual environment, not in the real world!
This richly-detailed simulation will have players hunting game from the USA wildlands to the European boreal regions. Still, even if you’re not that much into hunting or you feel like the game might be pushing animal cruelty a bit too far, you can rest easy that, at the very least, you’ll find some very gorgeous vistas in Way of the Hunter.
Hunting for a Reason
Realism is the name of the game whenever you play a round of Way of the Hunter. Every aspect of hunting – from the way the animals behave to the recoil of your guns and the details of your surroundings – has been painstakingly recreated to deliver one of the most realistic hunting experiences we’ve ever seen.
That said, there are a ton of hunting games that pride themselves on their attention to detail, with theHunter: Call of the Wild being a prime example of this. Still, what makes Way of the Hunter so good is that it combines those elements of realism with a nice, almost solid narrative that sells the game on its own.
You won’t be going around blindly shooting just about any animal you see. Way of the Hunter has a plot in the middle of it all about a struggling family business that hunts to make ends meet. If that’s not your thing, however, you can always engage in some free hunting.
Visuals and Gameplay
There’s something about hunting games that always brings out some of the best visuals of any FPS game, and Way of the Hunter is no exception – with a twist. While other games like the aforementioned theHunter rely a bit too heavily on fancy visuals that might put to the test even the beefiest setups, Way of the Hunter takes a bit of a step back in the graphics department.
Things like water reflections and overall ambient occlusion might not be as fancy as some other hunting titles might offer, but the result is a game that still looks great and can be played on most gaming PCs without much effort.
Even if the visuals might not be all too breathtaking for some, the animations certainly are. It’s clear that the developers spent a lot of time getting animal behavior to be as true-to-life as possible, and it shows. Way of the Hunter has some of the best-looking wildlife in the genre – not to mention an incredible trophy randomization system.
Every time you hunt deer, their antlers are randomly generated, taking into consideration factors like age, fitness, and all other kinds of real-life stats that would have an effect on the size of the horns.
Rating 9/10

Way of the Hunter is an incredibly detailed hunting experience that prides itself on its realism and performance-friendly visuals.
