The Tyrant

There is no shortage of lewd visual novels and The Tyrant is yet another one. One of the first things I have to say about this game is that the developer is pretty cool. This game is funded via subs and donations on Patreon and the developer since the very beginning has always been very upfront about what to expect from updates. The updates happened pretty frequently too and now you can play the complete game.

What Kind Of Man Do You Want To Be?

At first glance, The Tyrant seems like your typical visual novel kind of game. You are a dude and you want to bang all of the hot chicks that you can. What I think makes this pretty neat is that there is this morality system to the game. You can try and make it with the girls in a more “honest” way where you are a nice guy. Or, you can try and have your wicked way with them by any means necessary and corrupt them.

I thought this was pretty interesting. The rest of the story has you coming home from being away at school and the small town you live in is not the best place. This part of the story is your typical lewd visual novel thing, but the whole morality aspect does make it a bit different. Also, the fact that the writing is good helps get you much more invested in what is going down.

A Horny Case Of De-Ja-Vue

The gameplay on offer here in The Tyrant is what you have already probably guessed that it is. You will be reading a lot of text to move the story along. You will then be given various decisions to make such as what you will say, what you will do, where you will go, and so on. It is these decisions that will shape the story moving forward.

Not only that, but the decisions you make will also decide what kind of person you are. I was pretty shocked at some of the darker and more “mature” themes the story had. I tried to make my guy as good as possible, but sometimes it felt like the decision I was making was just the lesser of two evils!

A Very Happy Ending

I was impressed with the visuals that The Tyrant had to offer. There is a great selection of very attractive-looking ladies in this game and you get the chance to see the majority of them buck naked! The thing is, while the game is very easy on the eyes, the little bit of animation that they do have is very repetitive which is a shame, I think if the sex scenes were animated more, it would have made the game a lot better.

Stop Moaning!

The one aspect of the game that started to get on my nerves was the sound design. There is very little sound in the game and what is here feels like it repeats far, far too often. The moaning and groaning during the sex scenes is hot for the first couple of times, but by the end of the game, you will be sick of hearing the same sound effects over and over again.

Pros:

• The characters look great
• The morality thing the game has makes the story more interesting
• Some of the stuff that goes down is pretty brutal
• I liked how cool the developer was

Cons:

• Without the morality aspect, the story would be rather boring
• The sounds in this game repeat way too often

The Tyrant is a lewd visual novel style game that is being funded via Patreon. It has built up a fairly solid following and I like the way that the developer is very open with the way development is going. It has seen many different updates, but I think that the version we have now is the final build of the game.

Good Or Bad? You Decide

One of the things that drew me to The Tyrant was that the story sounded like it had a real morality thing going on. You have returned home after a year away at school and when you get home, let’s just say that things are not what they used to be. You are trying to get with many different girls, but in this town, no one is going to let you just be happy.

You have probably played a million lewd games where getting it on with girls is the goal. This game though allows you to decide how you do this. Will you corrupt them and be a bit of an evil SOB? Or will you not give in to the dark side and try and stay good? The story is pretty decent and I thought the writing was pretty solid.

A Girl For Every Guy

The visuals on offer in The Tyrant are pretty much the same as the majority of other XXX games that are made using the Unity Engine. I do not mean that as a diss, but I did have a very, I have seen this before kind of vibe when playing the game. The characters have a realistic look to them and I was very happy with the variety of good-looking characters there were. The animation is a bit lacking, but as the character models look so good, I feel that they just about get away with it.

The sound design feels like it was a bit of an afterthought. I get like The Tyrant which is funded via Patreon is more than likely not going to have the budget for voice acting. It is more the music and the moans and groans that got on my nerves as it was very repetitive.

Doing The Right Thing

As far as the gameplay goes, The Tyrant is not trying to do anything radically new. It is a visual novel style game where you have a lot of choices to make. One of the major things with this game is the morality aspect that I spoke of before. It also has some pretty dark and violent themes, even going as far as murder! So, for folks that want a game that doe walk more on the dark side, this could be what you are looking for.

• The character models are pretty impressive
• This game can be pretty damn dark!
• It even has murder in it!
• The developer is pretty open with the fans
