The Labyrinth Of Grisaia

As a fan of the first game, The Labyrinth Of Grisaia was a game I was very excited to get into. This is one of the rare lewd Japanese games that would get a full translation and official release on Steam. Although, as I write this the English version of the game does not currently have a patch to add in the XXX content. To be honest with you, by the time you read this, I guess that they very well could have fixed this. I will say that you certainly want to play the first game, The Fruit Of Grisaia before jumping in here if you want to fully appreciate what this game is offering.

Who Is Yuji Kazami?

Once again, the protagonist of The Labyrinth Of Grisaia is Yuki Kazami as it was in the previous game. While he was a very interesting protagonist in that game, we were left with many questions about who he was and why he was able to do the things that he could! It made him a very compelling protagonist and the way that this game lifts the veil and lets us experience his backstory is truly fantastic stuff.

Always Look On The Right Slice Of Life!

I would say that slice of life is the best way to describe the kind of story that is being told here with The Labyrinth Of Grisaia. It is told in a fun way and there are some great comedic elements to the story that do not feel forced at all and the characters all feel rather unique and “real” in their own ways. However, despite the fun aspect of this game, you do also have a fair bit of drama and tragedy as well as you try and make your way through the main story and pick the right choices.

That Sweet After Story!

While the main focus of the tale that The Labyrinth Of Grisaia is telling is based around our compelling protagonist. You do also have a few after stories to play through that flesh out the supporting cast and love interests. I have to say that this was a great idea and it gives you more content to play through. However, it does also mean that these “extra” stories are not just forced into the main story which is something that I really liked. Again, I will say that to get the best out of this, playing the first game is really essential.

Sex Matters!

Ok, so you come to a lewd visual novel not just for the story, but that sweet XXX content too right? Well, The Labyrinth Of Grisaia as far as the official English release goes has it all cut. The thing is, the XXX content is fantastic and some of the best anime style lewd content you will have the pleasure of checking out. However, the “commentary” that happens during the lewd scenes also adds to the overall story so it makes the fact they are missing from the game a pretty major issue! Final Score: 7.5/10 (for the Steam version) 9/10 (for the proper version)

Pros:

• I loved the story being told here
• The comedic timing in the story is great
• While it does have humor, there is also a fair bit of darkness to the story in places
• The game looks amazing!

Cons:

• Most of the magic of the story will be lost if you have not played the first game
• The cut content in the Western version spoils the game big time!
