Even though most of the media that cover video games tends to focus on AAA big-name games, some indie games also manage to get a lot of attention. One such game is The Entropy Centre, developed by Playstack and Stubby games. This new indie game will surely remind you of another puzzle game in first we'll mention later on. These similarities could be the reason behind all the coverage this game is getting, as the other game is one of the most iconic puzzle games. So what's so special about it? Well, to answer this question we first have to talk about what this game is all about!

About the game

Cunningly witty and challenging, and developed by new UK indie studio Stubby Games, Entropy Center is based on a unique puzzle mechanic that allows us to think in reverse and overcome seemingly impossible obstacles.

The game stars Aria as she wakes up inside the bowels of a colossal space station, the Entropy Center, near Earth's orbit. You face two immediate problems: Earth has been set on fire by an extinction-level event. And the station she is on is empty and on the verge of collapse.

With the help of ASTRA, a weapon with artificial intelligence that can turn back time, Aria must rebuild the place by fixing bridges and facilities; solving puzzles to advance to the center of The Entropy Center in hopes of surviving this seemingly doomed space station and somehow find their way home.

But what happened here? How come everything failed so much? Well, the answer to these questions just might be inside the Entropy Centre that's also collapsing. Now, there's yet another question we we have to answer first of all, are we ready for the truth behind all this?

The Entropy Centre features a wide variety of puzzles, with each one requiring different solutions, some of which involve manipulating the environment itself. Some of them require the player to manipulate time itself. For example, you might need to create a bridge across a chasm or use an elevator to go down a floor, while others require you to use the environment to your advantage.

By now you might have already found that there's a similarity or two between this game and the popular Portal series. In both games you're trapped in a facility, trying to find what happened to the world you used to know. And to solve all the puzzles present in here you'll use science.

Of course, in Portal, you used the portal guns to create especial portals to transport matter from one place to the other. This means that in Portal we work with matter, and in The Entropy Centre, we work with time. The two core elements of the universe bascally.

The Entropy Centre is an incredible game that covers a lot of the bases you'd want in a puzzle-solving game. It also includes humor and a good storyline that will keep you entertained throughout the whole game. Even the puzzles themselves are fun to figure out, although they do get harder as you progress through the game.
