Story

As the title would imply, The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr focuses on the Northern Elsweyr zone, home to the bipedal feline species called the Khajiit. In comparison to other zones in Tamriel, Northern Elsweyr feels exceptionally exotic, with a contrast between its sizzling desert and various temples and tombs.

Upon arriving in Northern Elsweyr, your character learns about Queen Euraxia, the vicous ruler of the land. In addition to oppressive life under Euraxia's rule, the citizens of Northern Elsweyr also deal with the recent return of dragons, who lay waste to their villages and cities. As always, it's your heroic duty to solve the world's problems, overthrowing Euraxia and attempting to end the dragon invasion. Your journey through Northern Elsweyr is also packed with memorable side-quests and character, resulting in a notably humorous and enjoyable narrative.

Gameplay

Like the other “chapter” expansions for The Elder Scrolls Online, Elsweyr adds hours of new content, contained within a new zone. The core gameplay of The Elder Scrolls Online remains the same, with the added option of choosing the necromancer class when you create your character. Either in first-person or third-person, you'll explore the massive world of Tamriel, completing quests for its many characters while earning experience and leveling up. The necromancer class offers some pretty wicked abilities, like the power to throw ghostly projectiles or summon undead allies. Regardless of how you choose to outfit or equip your character, you'll travel through various areas, killing enemies and finding better loot as you go.

The Northern Elsweyr zone has a lot of visual flair, fusing the barren landscape of a desert with oasis-style tropics scattered throughout. There are some impressive and expansive locations to explore, from the crumbling tomes littered around the desert to the new sprawling 12-person trial, Sunspire. The biggest new mechanic in Elsweyr is the introduction of dragons, who naturally circle the map over time. Every now and then, dragons will touch down and begin fighting other players, offering you a chance to defeat these mighty beasts. Dragon fights are intense and satisfying, with bounties of great loot to get. Between the addictive quests and high-octane boss fights, there's no shortage of extra fun in The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr.
