Strikeforce Kitty is a game that has been around for what feels like forever. I am sure it is a game that many of us have fired up on our browsers and have had a bit of fun with. I had not thought of the game in a very, very long time. As a matter of fact, I completely forgot that this game even existed if I am being really honest. However, something happened that made me think of this game (more on that later in this review) which led me to try the game out again and see if it was better than I remembered.

Bringing It All Back

Before I dive into what the gameplay, presentation, and so on of Strikeforce Kitty is like, we have to talk about what made me decide to try this game again after all these years. Well, despite this being a game that pretty much every online site that deals with video games has to offer, it was decided to make this available for purchase on the Nintendo Switch! That is right a game that has been free for years is now available to actually buy on the Nintendo Switch, how crazy is that?

Kitty’s Fighting Kitty’s

I wish that there was some kind of story at play here in Strikeforce Kitty as I think they have a good and fun premise of cats waging war with each other, but there is nothing. The game just throws you in and you are left to it. I think this is a bit of a missed opportunity here as the developer clearly has a great take on pop culture and I think this is something that could have been used to make a fun story for us to play through.

Pushing Things Forward

If I had to pigeonhole Strikeforce Kitty into a genre it would have to be that of an endless runner. You have four cats in your party, each one with a different theme of what they can do and then they just start running through the level. You collect fish as you progress which is your ultimate goal, however, there are other cats that want you dead for some reason as you progress. You just run into these to fight them and that is it! You will for the most part kill them, but they will take health from you so you are better off jumping over the enemies when you can.

So Many Charming Kitty’s!

The best thing that Strikeforce Kitty has going on are all the awesome parodies! We have cats that look like Darth Vader, Link, Pac-Man, and Mega Man that you will be using. However, it is all of the rest of them that you will see as you progress through the game that will keep you playing! I got such a kick out of seeing a cat Jason Vorhees and Freddy Kruger showing up! This is ultimately what kept me playing! The thought of getting new cats to play as and never knowing which ones would show up next.

Is Strikeforce Kitty a very basic game? I would say a big fat yes to that question! However, there is a bit of charm here. As someone that loves all things pop culture, I had a real blast seeing some of the cat parodies that were created here and that was the best thing about the game in my opinion. I think as a free to play game in your browser what we have here is harmless enough, but man do I feel sorry for anyone that drops money on this to buy it for the Nintendo Switch!

  • I liked the different cat parodies the game had
  • If you like endless runners, you may enjoy this
  • It is a game that is free to play
  • I like how bright and colorful it is

  • Why did this need a release on the Switch…. that you have to pay for?
  • The game is very, very shallow in pretty much every regard
