SEX Amnesia - Lover Sim

Contrary to what the name implies, this is not a game about your character forgetting how to get freaky – it’s a surprisingly deep narrative about drama, love, betrayal, and lots of sex scenes. SEX Amnesia - Lover Sim caught me off-guard with its commitment to telling an engaging story first and foremost, making all the naughty bits feel all the more rewarding in the end.

The game follows a man whose girlfriend almost died in a mysterious house fire. Unfortunately for him, his beloved fell into a coma and, upon her awakening, forgot everything about their relationship. Cue the sad violin music. Now, the pair must rediscover their passion, while solving the mystery surrounding the fire that almost extinguished their lives.

A Banging Story

From the start, you’ll notice that SEX Amnesia - Lover Sim puts its narrative above all else. This is not the kind of game you play just to get a presentation with multiple sex scenes and be done with it. Much like Katawa Shoujo, the plot and characters are the stars of the show here. Don’t worry, though: there’s still lots of boning going on.

As usual, the game plays like any other visual novel. The player merely picks dialogue options that ultimately influence the course of the story. I was surprised to find just how much the game changes with each choice, rewarding repeat playthroughs and attention to detail.

The fact that there’s also a “conspiracy” at the bottom of the main plot adds a bit more intrigue to the product – something that reminded me of Summertime Saga and how it avoided being just another porn game.

Love is in the Details

Even if the story is the focus here, you just can’t forget that this is a porn game. As such, what most players will care about is just how good the sex scenes look. I’m happy to report that they look superb – for the most part.

SEX Amnesia - Lover Sim uses those characteristic Blender 3D models we’ve seen in countless porn games before. One thing I noticed is that, during animated cutscenes, there are some animation errors here and there. Things like weird joints and stretched textures aren’t uncommon in this game, and if you’re observant enough, that’s the kind of thing that can break the immersion.

Besides that, the game’s presentation looks great. Characters’ faces are surprisingly expressive, making you feel for their plight a bit more. There are plenty of sex scenes to discover – and you can’t get them all in a single playthrough, making this one of those games that you’ll have to play over and over. Keep those tissues ready.

Mysteries and Secrets

The story is surprisingly gripping. Okay, maybe it’s not as gripping as something like Detroit: Become Human, but for a porn game, this is Oscar-worthy. The mystery surrounding your girlfriend’s coma adds a bit of spice to all the banging, making the story feel justified.

In an industry that thrives on cheap thrills and quickies, SEX Amnesia - Lover Sim takes its time, edging towards a satisfying climax that makes every piece of the mystery feel meaningful.

SEX Amnesia - Lover Sim is a lewd adventure game that tells a great and interesting mystery story. While there is a great deal of sex in the game, I liked how it also had elements of mystery and romance in it as well. It has a pretty decent gameplay loop and I found myself really wanting to get to the bottom of what actually happened here. Also, this game has a very nice looking main character, and getting her to do naughty stuff was something that I found very addictive.

“Fire”, “Hang On April”

If you get that reference you are one awesome dude and we can hang out anytime. The story of SEX Amnesia - Lover Sim is that we play the role of a man who has an absolutely perfect 10 of a girlfriend and life could not be any better. Well, life is cruel and after a fire, his girlfriend ends up in a coma. She eventually awakens from the coma and things are good right? Well, she does wake up, but when she does wake up, she has amnesia and it is up to us to show her how much she means to us.

More Than Meets The Eyes

That is right my fellow Autobots, there is more going on than we think. Part of SEX Amnesia - Lover Sim is about us helping her get to know us again by going on dates and of course, having lots and lots of hot sex. However, in addition to this, there is a mystery aspect to the story as well as we find out that the fire may not have been an accident and there is this weird chick that we keep on seeing who may or may not be involved. Honestly, the main story here was something that I thought was pretty cool. Sure, some of the writing could be a tad clunky, but for the most part, this hooked me right from the start.

Falling In Love Again

I would say that a time management game is probably the best way to look at the gameplay of SEX Amnesia - Lover Sim. You have a day and night cycle and there are many different things that you can do. For example, you can go to work to make money or you can goof off. You can take her to the movies or you can take her to dinner. Each of the different activities you can do will help you either make money or build up the relationship with your girlfriend, all the while building towards the mystery of what really happened with that fire. To be fair, you do have different things that you can do to occupy your time, but I felt that much of the gameplay did repeat the same text over and over again and that did become a tad annoying, especially if you had to go a while between getting the next part of the story or the next sex scene.

Speaking Of Which!

I read some mixed things about the visuals of SEX Amnesia - Lover Sim, but I honestly have no idea what the heck people are talking about! I thought that this game looked fantastic, they have gone for a more realistic look to the presentation and while there were some moments that felt like were a little too long between sex scenes, for the most part, I was really digging what I was seeing here. The sex scenes are fully animated and pretty much anything you could want is here. Although, I did find it funny how just after she has been in a coma and discovered that she has a boyfriend, she is willing to go down on you. The fact that the girlfriend is such a great looking character of course does help you get more invested in what is happening here! She manages to walk a fine line of being cute and hot and she kind of reminds me a little of MJ from Spider-Man.

• Sometimes it can take a bit too long to get to the next sex scene
