RoboCop vs The Terminator

The two monsters of big-screen mayhem are here in this bloody rendition of the Dark Horse comic. Robocop vs. The Terminator is a thrill-a-minute ride down a bloodstained alley.

ProTip: Sometimes power-ups are behind or to the left or right of arrows.

Metallica

Those two butt-kickin' 'borgs of movie fame are back. Robocop in your search for the Terminator, your quest will take you through the streets of a futuristic slum, the OCP offices, a toxic warehouse, and more.

  • If you die with a weapon in your hand, you lose the weapon.
  • The Endoskeletons and Terminators rise twice before dying.

You start off with your standard-issue rapid-fire Pistol, but along the way you'll pick up Rifles, Flamethrowers, and Homing Bullets. You're going to need them against an army of rifle-toting, bomb-throwing henchmen, who litter the landscapes. There are also tasks you must accomplish, like rescuing hostages, or tiptoeing around toxic sludge. At the end of each stage you must face a boss. They can be as tame as an overweight thug, or as lethal as the Terminator. Expect the ED-209 (the two- legged Robocop nemesis) to make an appearance, too.

  • There is a secret OCP office to the left of this line. Jump toward the wall and fire and you're in. There are three 1-ups in this secret room, and you can return again and again for them.
  • If you get Homing Bullets, shoot up and Jump. The bullets will hit any enemies above you.

There are some secret rooms with 1-ups that'll allow you to maximize your game play, but you may not even need that as this game is pretty easy. Intermediate gamers will breeze through this one with a little patience.

Shining Armor

The graphics in this game are awesome, if you can wade through the gore and still see the score. Every enemy is quick, destructive, and realistically illustrated. The backgrounds have neat little touches, like Robocop's face on the TV screens.

The music is standard background noise, but the sound effects (the agonized screams of the bad guys to the metal movement of an opponent) are absolutely outstanding.

The controls are basic. One button shoots, another jumps, and another switches weapons.

  • To kill off the ED-209, jump and hit it in the face with any powered-up weapon. When you jump, you'll end up hanging from the bar above the stage. Jump down and crouch on the barrel while firing at the ED- 209. Then jump again to avoid its bullets. It will break, and you'll have to hang from the bar and shoot down diagonally at its legs.
  • Before you waiting thugs jump from a ladder, point down and spray below you with bullets to take out

If I Only Had a Heart

This plasma-spewing side-scroller will put some people off with its graphic violence (women in garters get torn apart by bullets, and in some stages bosses are gunned down to pieces), but it still remains a basic run-and-jump shooter with great graphics. It'll be Robocop vs. The Terminator vs. the World!

Game Reviews

Robocop wants a piece of the Terminator's hide, and the Temni-nator wants a shot at the chrome cop.

Scrap Yard Dogs

You play as Robocop in your search for the Terminator. It seems that old Termie has infiltrated New Detroit and is crossing paths with Robocop. This side-scroller will take you through the slums, into a toxic warehouse, and eventually into the future to battle the Terminator. You battle Endoskeletons, gun-toting maniacs, robotic renegades, and all sorts of other metallic misfits.

You start with Robocop's patented slime-stopping pistol, but you can find other guns, like a rapid-fire missile launcher and a laser rifle. There are also life bar power-ups and 1 -ups strewn throughout the stages.

Prime Directive

The graphics in this Game Gear cart are surprisingly good, with such attention paid to the detail that it closely matches its Genesis cousin. There's still a lot of blood in this one, too. The backgrounds are good, and some small details, like Robocop's face on the TV screens in the OCP offices, are retained. Nice touch.

The sounds are good, too. There are some nice vocal effects using Robocop's patented tag lines. The music is unimpressive, but that's okay because the action fills the gap.

Sharp Shot

You'll enjoy Robocop vs. The Terminator if you like fast-moving, hard-hitting, nonstop action on your Game Gear. Check out what these two metal-heads are up to now, and you'll stay for the end.

This is the "Wild Bunch" for Genesis. Shoot a guy with a high-powered gun and he explodes in a bloody mess! As RoboCop, there are many weapons to collect and the control of the RoboCop character is flawless.

Two of Hollywood's biggest box office draws come together in your house to do battle in RoboCop vs. the Terminator for the Super NES. If you've been waiting for this title to come to the Super NES, your prayers have been answered!

You play the part of RoboCop who must thwart the evil from the future to save the present. As you battle your way through various enemies and traps, you will be bowled over by some really spectacular game play. There's even some heavy-duty Mode 7 effects! You get to sit in the cockpit of a specially designed machine which can eliminate terminators. The scaling and rotation will knock you out!

There's also more levels than you can shake a terminator's arm at! Thanks to Virgin, you'll be able to see the mythical battle between these two mechanized titans!

In the future, the mother of all battles will take place between man and machine. Well, between half-man and half-machine. RoboCop Vs. The Terminator has already hit the Super NES and Genesis systems, and now it is on the Game Gear. The levels are basically identical to the Genesis version, with the bloody demise of opponents include.

The story concerns RoboCop's efforts to destroy Skynet, a giant computer conglomerate that will ultimately start World War III! RoboCop uplinks himself to the OCP computer and regenerates himself in the future. The menacing Terminators are not the only enemies of RoboCop here: there are some human foes that will shoot at him with a variety of firearms and other deadly weapons. Each level involves horizontal and vertical scrolling with a tough Boss at the end of each! To give RoboCop an edge, there are several weapons he can use, including Bazooka Launchers and Laser Guns! RoboCop is armed with his standard issue rapid-firing pistol which he always carries with him - even when he is killed.

RoboCop vs. The Terminator for Game Gear holds up pretty well, however, this one suffers from some slowdown and a horrible case of breakup. The voice digitization is very good, yet the game is a little difficult.

Years after the invention of Robocop, Sac-Norad hires Cyberdyne Systems to build a new defense computer dubbed Skynet. But something goes terribly wrong. Soon after the system goes on line, Skynet becomes self aware. It decides that humans are the enemy, so it launches a mission of global genocide.

In an attempt to abate a threat from the past, Skynet sends a team of Terminators into the past to get rid of its only possible threat: Robocop.

Welcome to the world of Robocop vs. the Terminator! This cart blends the best of both biomechanical worlds by bringing two of the baddest 'borgs in the business' together in one intense shoot-'em-up. A bonanza of blood graces this game, because bad guys don't die clean and easy. They explode into gorgeous puddles of meat and blood. This side scroller plays a lot like Contra, with the exception of it having non-linear game play. Hours of searching around the stages will be necessary if you hope to survive and save the human race, present and future.

  • Manufacturer: Virgin
  • Machine: Super NES

Nice try, but this just doesn't happen for me. The blood, of course, is gone and the Mode 7 sequence is very slow and choppy. The comic book-esque cinema sequences are innovative and new, but the intensity isn't there.

  • Action

Pulp this waste of human life. Crooks like this are everywhere.

You'll see what happens when two powerful cyborgs meet in Robocop vs. Terminator. In an all-out firefight, you portray Robocop, defender of New Detroit. While stopping the criminals who are plaguing the city, you come across a group of cyborgs whose power rivals your own. When you find out that they are from a possible future, you travel forward through time to stop them. Along the way you'll meet some familiar faces like the awesome ED-209 robot. Defending the city has never been this rough.

Robocop vs. Terminator is a graphic journey through time. The entire game is fast-paced, and the plentiful enemies are tough!.

Vergin's teaming up the mechanical menaces -- Robocop and the Terminator -- in a one-player arcade-style run-n-gun adventure that's a 16-meg blast to the future.

The shoot, shoot and shoot some more action puts you inside the metallic skin of Robocop, who's locked in a post-holocaust world, circa 2029. In each of the game's 10 multi-scrolling levels, you're out to gun down an army of Terminators, who are bent on destroying humanity. Robocop and the Terminator are large sprites with multiple weaponry. High-tech graphics set the mood, and bloody blobs of exploding guts highlight the destruction. Hasta la vista, baby!
