Resident Evil Village Gold Edition

Even though I played the original release to death, Resident Evil Gold Edition is still a release I am very excited about. I actually put the initial release as my favorite game of 2021 and as I write this, I have played through it four times and have the platinum trophy on the PS5 version of the game. Well, I have decided that I am going to double dip and get the game for another system (probably PC) as this gold edition is packing in some awesome extra content that I am very excited about.

Where Is Rose!

The story of Resident Evil Village Gold Edition is the same as it was in the previous release After the events of Resident Evil VII: Biohazard. Ethan Winters, his wife Mia, and his newborn daughter Rose are hiding away just trying to live as normal a life as possible. Things go to hell when Chris Redfield shows up, kills Mia, and takes Rose! Of course, things are not quite what they seem and Ethan ends up on a journey in a strange remote village with a host of strange characters as he tries to get Rose back!

Shadows Of Rose

The biggest reason for getting the game and what has me most excited about Resident Evil Village Gold Edition is the Shadows of Rose content. This is an extra story that takes place after the credit’s scene of the regular game. We get to play as a now teenage Rose Winters as she comes to terms with her powers. The setting of the game is a bit crazy as it is inside the mind of the Megamycete’s consciousness so there is going to be some pretty messed up and interesting stuff here. Speaking of interest, this new chapter is played in the 3rd person and that brings me to the next big addition to the game.

I See You, Mr. Winters!

Another huge addition to the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition is the fact that you can now play through the whole game in the 3rd person! This is something I am very excited about and also a little nervous about too. The Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes were truly fantastic and the prime example of how a modern 3rd person Resident Evil game should be. However, I have played the original Resident Evil Village to death so I am a little nervous to see how a game that was made to be played in the first-person translates to the 3rd person. No matter what, it gives me an excuse to play through the game again and that is awesome!

Three New Mercenaries

For those that love the mercenaries mode, Resident Evil Village Gold Edition has a real treat in store for you! We now have three new characters to play as which are Chris Redfield, Lady Dimitrescu, and Karl Heisenberg! Each one offers a fun new way to destroy horde after horde of the enemy. I am most excited to play Dimitrescu if I am being honest with you. As well as the three new playable characters, two new stages have been added, The Bloody River and The Bloody Village.

Pros:

• The new story chapter with Rose is very interesting
• You can now play the game in the 3rd person
• It is awesome how we get three major characters for mercenaries
• This is one of the best Resident Evil games of all time!

Cons:

• I really do not see anything negative about this release at all
