Remnant 2: Ultimate Edition

Mixing 3rd person shooter and RPG style gameplay, Remnant 2: Ultimate Edition is a truly epic game and as you may have noticed, I am specifically talking about the ultimate edition of the game so you can get an idea if this upgrade is worth it for you. I love this game! It offers balls to the wall shooter action, but the souls like gameplay and RPG progression system make it such an addictive game, a game I have put an absolute ton of hours into!

Destroying The Root

It may surprise you to hear this, but Remnant 2: Ultimate Edition offers a very deep and engrossing story. It is set in a fantasy world where we play as a traveler who is traveling with a companion when we get attacked and she is infected by The Root. We end up at a survivor's camp and we get pulled into a quest that could very well see The Root being destroyed once and for all. If you love fantasy, if you love sci-fi if you just love epic stories you will love this! The random nature of the storytelling is quite unique and ensures that no two play-throughs are ever exactly the same. It does take place after the original Remnant From The Ashes game, but I would not say any knowledge of that game is essential before you start playing this.

Two Guns Are Better Than One

The gameplay in Remnant 2: Ultimate Edition is just awesome! You choose your character archetypes at the start of the game and this will of course decide what you can and cannot use in combat, I went for the Gunslinger to start with. You can dual class when you get further into the game which lets you get really creative with your build. You can wield two guns and a melee weapon and the combat in this game has some real weight to it! This is a game that is hard as nails, the levels change up each time you play them so you never know what enemies will be here, bosses, or even NPCs that you can talk with. I found it to be very addictive and I kept wanting to play just one more round to see if I could get anything cool!

What Makes This Ultimate?

Now, we are talking about the Remnant 2: Ultimate Edition, and before I get to all the DLC that makes this version worth picking up. As this is the Ultimate Edition, they do give you some extra content which I think is pretty neat. You get three armor sets which are the Elder Armor Set, the Radiant Armor Set, and the Void Armor Set, as someone who loves to tinker with their gear, this is awesome! You also get a Survival Pack which contains a bunch of stuff to give you a helping hand such as 3 Bloodroot, 2 Mudtooth Elixir’s, 3 ammo boxes, and a ton of scrap and some iron too. Hey, if you are new to the game, this is an epic amount of stuff to give you a helping hand as you start.

The Complete Remnant II Experience

While the extra goodies that you get in the Remnant 2: Ultimate Edition are awesome, what makes this the best version of the game to get is the DLC packs. With this, you get The Awakened King as well as the other two DLC packs which give you more content to sink your teeth into. What I like about this is that you do not have to worry about getting the DLC at a later date, if you get this version, you know right off the bat that you have the complete experience and there is nothing else that you need to throw money at…. Maybe.

Pros:

• The base game on its own is awesome
• I love how the story has random elements to it as well as the gameplay
• The whole style and vibe of the game is so freaking cool
• The DLC packs make this the best version of Remnant II

Cons:

• The game can be brutally difficult sometimes depending on which enemies randomly spawn
• I tried playing this on the Steam Deck and it was pretty rough
