Reassembly

Reassembly is a 2D space shooter that allows both space exploration and combat. If you’ve eaten up games like Star Citizen and wished for a less glitchy version, Reassembly is the answer.

Like many similar space games, the player starts off on their own home planet, and must gather the resources to build their first ship. How well you build the ship will determine whether you succeed at dominating in the game, or are sent packing by tougher opponents.

Hours of ship building fun

If you really enjoy ship building and trying new things, you can have hours of fun experimenting with new designs and testing them out. There is so much variety in available options that even after you think you have found the best build available, someone will always come along with something better. When that happens, it’s up to you to go back to the drawing board and find a way to beat that design, until you have something that out performs the last ship you saw.

Absolutely no plot

Most space games have at least some sort of overarching story line that helps explain the culture of the world and how things work. There is no such thing in Reassembly. There isn’t any history of the universe, no main story quest, nothing at all. If you’re used to having a main story of each alien race or what has happened in the past, this is a very noticeable lack, but it does not stop the game from being fun. When you start the game, you more or less just pop into being, build your ship, and then pop into a neighboring universe to invade.

Lack of balance in factions

Different factions offer different weaponry and skills, but they’re not all created equal. One faction gives ships powerful long range weapons that allow them to destroy other ships from great distances away, while others are essentially limited to close range combat. Fortunately, both bots and real players fighting against you must deal with the same problems that you do, which does help bring some balance back into play. How you get around the problems of balancing a ship or fleet is up to you, and there is enough variety that you’ll always be able to make a better ship.

If you enjoy sci-fi games, Reassembly is a fun game that will keep you entertained. While it’s true there is no plot of any sort, it’s not really required to make this game entertaining. The whole purpose of the game is to assemble ships in new and wonderful combinations, and test them out to see how well they do in combat.
