Medieval Europe is one of the most popular time periods to set an adventure. Raubritter is right in the thick of that action, allowing you to star as the younger brother of a landed and titled Lord. Your goal is to survive in the woods until you can gather together a team, and then pillage the lands until everyone fears you. This game is a sandbox survival tale that mixes RPG elements, city building, and many other genres to create a unique experience.

Incredible Graphics

Raubritter has spared no expense for its CGI, and it shows in the dazzling 3D world provided for you. The game looks just shy of real, with the backgrounds, characters, and even items in the game crisp and real. Even the horses have some degree of realism to them. Although their movement isn’t perfect, for a game where horses are not the main pastime they are very well done.

Inappropriate Content

At first glance, this looks like a fun game for older kids as well as adults, but a deeper look shows that this is a mature game. Heads and hands are frequently amputated in the game, and you take the role of someone stealing from and torturing innocent people. The game has a large amount of ethically questionable content. While this makes it an interesting and fresh new RPG for adults, it is not meant for teens.

Lots to do

The game offers a stunning amount of variety in gameplay. It starts out in survival mode with you working just to keep yourself alive in the forest ala the game, “The Forest.” You’ll also build in your camp much the same way as in The Forest. After this you have some city building as you grow your camp from a single tent into a thriving bandit camp. You can craft tools, go out on adventures, and steal from merchants and other travelers to get needed supplies.

Make no mistake, you are the bad guy in this game. The Lord’s army will be out to get you, and you’ll need to keep a sharp eye out to keep yourself safe. There’s also some hint at a deeper story here. The developers say that you are the younger sibling of the Lord, and although your situation isn’t quite the same as most, you’ll essentially be doing the same thing—trying to become a feared name in the land.

English Translation needs work

This game is set to go into early release very soon, but a demo is available you can play now. The demo overall plays smoothly, but there’s some issues with the English translation. The translation doesn’t always make sense, and it’s clear that more polish is needed for this game to be passable.
