For millions of people, the Pokémon games were and still are one of the all-time greats in terms of RPG games, Ruby & Sapphire were two of the most popular games when released in the early 2000’s. Now with Pokémon Alpha Sapphire & Omega Ruby players are welcomed back into one of their favourite storylines, revamped to make your experience within the Hoenn region as nostalgically pleasing as it is exciting. With this remade version of the timeless classic, introductions to 3D gameplay, new moves & mega evolutions and much more will keep you thoroughly entertained throughout this game.
New & Noteworthy Features
While the games were previously filled with new experiences to regions, Pokémon, gym leaders and even villains, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby has created an incredibly detailed new experience for fans to experience anew. The game is created with a 3D perspective that allows for a more intimate experience within the game as it comes to life around you while playing, something the original games couldn’t offer. Mega Stones & Mega Evolution are introduced, offering the player to evolve their team in battle to become even stronger than ever before.
Storyline & Missions
Depending on which game you choose, Team Magma (Omega Ruby) or Team Aqua (Alpha Sapphire) will be your main enemy throughout the gameplay, while of course your rival and friends will test your team’s strength throughout the adventure. While the storyline remains similar overall, these games add a new level of tension and excitement to the game as you progress, collecting gym badges in hopes of one day challenging the Elite 4. As long as you are able to thwart the evil Team Magma & Aqua on their quest to change the world forever.
Added Details & Design
The Pokémon games have always brought players joy through incredible designs and magnificent attention to detail. With Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby we see these designs reach another level, paired with the 3D perspective, the illustrious colour schemes and map layout makes the story come to life in ways never seen before. The map itself has become more interactive, with features like the stars reflecting off of puddles as you walk through, Pokémon flying overhead, even trainers turning their heads as you pass, instead of the traditional style of standing frozen in place, begging you to cross their sightline in hopes of a battle. While a game like Ooblets can be considered entertainment wise similar, Pokémon really stands alone as its own genre and unmatchable in the hearts of its fans.
The games bring back memories of nostalgia for those who were lucky enough to get their hands on the original Ruby and Sapphire games, yet even for first time players the incredible storyline and challenging obstacles along the way prove to be a wonderful addition to the Pokémon franchise. The addition of 3D gameplay, updated graphics, along with the NPC interactive prompts and increased evolution capabilities, these games have cemented their place in the Pokémon Franchise as top games for their fans to enjoy.
- Updated graphics and design provide another level of enjoyment which fans might not have known was possible.
- 3D Gameplay adds another element to the Hoenn region which brings the game to life even more.
- Addition of mega stones and evolutions brings this game out of the past and into the future for its players.
- Some aspects of the game can be considered repetitive, especially for those looking for a new experience all together compared to the original games such as overall story arc.
- Extra aspects such as the Poke-Contests and secret bases may not add value for those less interested in the extras and more so focused on the main story, such as defeating the Elite Four.
