Pigeon Blood

Pigeon Blood is a brutal and hard-hitting visual novel that is perfect if you want a story that is more extreme. I had heard about this game, but never gave it a chance, but a friend of mine who loves horror got it and did not shut up about how I had to play it and how I would love it. The game is pretty messed up and if you have a weak stomach for assault, violence and just bad people in general, this is not the visual novel for you. I have so far only played through the game once, but I really want to again to see what different outcomes there are.

Returning Home

The main character in Pigeon Blood is a young man called Kazuki. Kazuki is away at university, but he has to return to his wealthy family's estate for some kind of ritual that needs to be done. Well, things get very weird as he comes across a car that is broken down with some people in it and they ask him for some help, he agrees and takes them to his home….. HELLO!!!! Has Kazuki never seen a horror movie before? Despite the cliché horror movie opening, I freaking loved the setup here.

A Car Full Of Pain

It does not take Pigeon Blood too long to get going and once these people manage to get into the house, things get very bad. Mimasaka is kind of the leader of this group and this dude is one bad apple, a clear sociopath that gets off on other people's pain. I would say that the second most dangerous person in this group is Tachibana who is like your stereotypical jock character that is big and uses his size to bully, intimidate and hurt people. There is also Yukinomya and Hirotsugu. These two do not have as much personality, to be honest with you, but I got a kick out of the kind of punk vibe that Hirotsugua had.

You Have A Month

Pigeon Blood is a visual novel and once the guys get into the house, the real game begins. You see, they drug our “hero” and they do all kinds of messed up things and they record it all and use this as blackmail. They give Kazuki a certain amount of time to find the SD card with the footage, or he can try and kill one of the them! If he can do either of these things, they will walk away and leave him be. The game throws choices your way and they are pretty neat in that they never really give too much away so you can never be sure what route you are on. I ended up on a path that saw me calling to my brother's spirit for help and I liked the way it ended, but this is classed as a bad ending! The fact I was into it so much and wanted to try and get another route tells you how much I liked the game.

Dude!!!

If you are into hot guys, Pigeon Blood is going to appeal to you based on the looks of the characters alone! Each of the guys has their own style and I do feel that they have done a good job ensuring that there is enough diversity here to make sure that there is a character that appeals to everyone. Of course, the game has some darker and more messed up stuff going on and that is not going to appeal to everyone, However, I do think that overall, this is a great looking game that has a cool, sleek, and modern look to it all.

Pros:

• I loved the horror movie vibes that the story had
• I was legit shocked and worried at some points in the story
• Two of the characters are just complete psychos
• I was so into it, it left me wanting more so a second playthrough is coming!

Cons:

• It may be too extreme and brutal for some people
• If you want a specific route or ending, it can be hard to know what choices to make
