My Life as a Cult Leader

Imagine you are living your life without annoying anyone, and suddenly, a mystery girl approaches you, asking if you want to be the new leader of her cult. Which would be your reaction? Surely, It wouldn’t be anything like My Life As a Cult Leader, a visual novel game where you’ll have to take the lead of a dying cult that lost its last leader and needs you to keep it alive.

While this game is crazy and filled with gorgeous girls with dark intentions, you’ll not see nudity here; it’s not an Eroge but leaves everything up to the imagination. Let’s take a look at it.

The Cultists

Every Visual Novel needs some great and well-built characters to work; otherwise, the game can get pretty boring pretty soon as, at the end of the day, you are just reading a compilation of subtitles while watching drawings on the screen.

In this case, My Life As a Cult Leader manages to deliver the player some good and well-created characters to interact with. You have the obnoxious, mysterious, and enigmatic Shima Itsuki, who’s the one who forced you to take the spot as the Cult Leader and the one who is really managing the Cult from the inside. Then, you’ll meet Ayaka Yoshino, a wealthy yet very shy and sad woman with a (not-so) perfect marriage and Marina Nishiki, who is a very famous idol who is struggling with the pain of being known only as a cute face.

Lastly, we have Kiriko Hitomi, a competitive woman who is obsessed with winning at all costs. Kiriko is very interesting as there seems to be something off about her. She’ll be the one who will move the plot onward during the game.

The characters are way deeper than they show on the outside; Shima knows more than what she wants you to know, Ayaka is a beautiful woman who has struggled all her life, Marina wants to be recognized for her job rather than her stunning body, and it’s very obvious that Kiriko has a secret she doesn’t want to reveal and will cause trouble in the cult. If you want to know more about the ladies of this game, you might want to play it!

Not a Kid’s Game

You must know that this game is not suitable for young audiences. Aside from the plot, which is very thick and needs a lot of comprehensive reading to catch it, this game has depictions of drug abuse, gore, and self-harm. This one is a very deep and dark game, so if you are also vulnerable to these topics, you should skip this one.

Good Drawing, Poor Character Design

The design of this game is a bit weird. The characters’ faces don’t seem to show the real feel behind the emotions they are trying to transmit, which makes things a bit harder to comprehend. On the other side, It’s easy to point at the obvious, as the ladies’ bodies are unequal. It’s a common thing to see some character design that looks a lot like the one you can see in this game, like on Doki Doki Literature Club or Danganronpa, but in those cases, the bodies look fitting with the overall appearance of the characters. Here, the creators just thought, “Big is better!” when it clearly isn’t.

Today I am sharing my thoughts on the lewd visual novel game, My Life as a Cult Leader with you fine folks. I thought that the title alone sounded very promising so I was excited to check this one out. I was even more willing to give this one a go when I found out that the game is fully complete so I would not have to wait for any updates to drop which is always a bonus. I actually loved my time with this game and I am sure I could see myself playing through it again at some point.

Kicked In The Nuts By Life!

The main character that we play as in My Life as a Cult Leader is really down on his luck. Actually, saying that he is down on his luck is a massive understatement. This dude has lost everything! He has lost his job and his place to stay. This leads him to having to try and get a good night's sleep on a park bench, but that is when his luck changes… well on the surface it would seem that way at least.

An Interesting Proposition!

While he is trying to make do with his park bench bed, My Life as a Cult Leader throws its big twist your way. You are approached by a very stern looking woman called, Shima. She comes to you and says that she is part of a cult and their cult leader is dying and they need a replacement and she wants you to be it. Now, this is freaking weird, right? However, our MC is cold and hungry and decides to go along with it. I think the setup here is just fantastic and I could not have been any more intrigued about what the heck was going on here.

It Is Not All Fun, Games, And Sex!

My Life as a Cult Leader is a lewd visual novel and as you have probably guessed, that means most of what you will be doing here is reading the story. The game has a bit of a mystery vibe about it, along with five different love interests and other cultists as well (this is a rather interesting cult, to say the least) so I feel like there is a good enough reason to play through the game more than once. I also felt that it was very easy to figure out what choices you needed to make in order to move things in the direction you wanted.

We Need More Lewd Art Books!

There are certain lewd games that I play which I always say to myself that I wish they made an actual physical artbook for, My Life as a Cult Leader is one of those games. The art in this game is fantastic, I am not just talking about the XXX stuff, which is great of course (although some slick animation would have been nice) the whole game in general has a very stylish look to it. I love the designs of these characters that are brought to life with these incredible portraits, the artist here did a wonderful job of making their faces look very expressive.

Pros:

• The opening scene that sets things up is fantastic
• The whole story was something that I found very interesting
• I liked all of the love interests in the game
• This game has some truly amazing lewd artwork that I adored!

Cons:

• I do wish that amazing art was brought to life with some equally as impressive animation
• While I love visual novels, this one is very easy to figure out in regard to what your choices will probably do
