Moonlight Castle

While Moonlight Castle is still being worked on as I write this, what I have played so far is just fantastic stuff, and I would put this up there are potentially one of the best visual novels ever made! It is honestly insane just how good this game is! I read the synopsis of what the game was all about, and I was pretty sure that I would like it, but I ended up liking the game even more than I thought I would. It has a kind of slice-of-life vibe about it, but with furry style characters, if that makes sense. I loved what I played so much, I kind of wish I had come into this later, once it was all done, as I do not want to have to wait.

Living My Life

The main character in Moonlight Castle is a college student, and they are at this fancy school on a scholarship. They have been told that they are super lucky and that they have to be very happy with the hand that they have been dealt. However, they feel like something is kind of missing and that they wish they had something more. Despite this being a game about what are essentially furry characters, the writing here is so well done that the characters have a very real and “human” kind of feel to them. It is hard to put this into words; you have to just play it to get why those who love it love it as much as they do.

A Night In The Woods!

Man, what an awesome game Night in the Woods is, and Moonlight Castle does have some very similar vibes. You see, the slice of life drama that these characters are going through is amplified by the spooky stuff. There is a rumour that a strange castle appears in the woods, and one of the characters wants to go and check this out, and our MC reluctantly agrees. Not only is this castle full of monsters, but our MC finds that there is more of a connection to this place than he could have imagined. Granted, as I write this, I have no idea if this is going to manage to stick the landing, but what is here is very well done and something I have greatly enjoyed.

Changing Points Of View

Trust me when I tell you that you have to just play Moonlight Castle to appreciate what makes this game so special. At its core, I guess I would have to say that this is a lewd visual novel and that is what even what the developer of the game refers to it as. There are many different routes that you can take, and what I like about the gameplay here is the way that there is a great selection of choices that feel a bit more lowkey, as well as those that you can tell will have major consequences. The best games of this style, even ones that are not lewd like Life is Strange, try and make you feel the weight of a situation.

Kicking It With The Guys

This is a fantastic looking game, and while this could easily go in the furry games category. I think that Moonlight Castle does a fantastic job of having these animal characters have very real and human features about them. They are not trying to make them all sexy for the sake of doing so. These have a much more realistic kind of look to them, well as realistic as animal characters can be, of course. It got to the point where I did not even realize that I was playing as animal/furry characters. This game just oozes personality, and it is all done very well. Even the spooky stuff that happens in the game has a ton of style and charm to it.

Pros:

• This is a truly incredible visual novel
• I found myself deeply connected to several of the characters
• There are some pretty mind-blowing elements to the story
• I pretty much enjoyed everything about this game
