Lustful Voyage

Pirates, demons, adventure, boobs – Lustful Voyage has it all. Set sail for the buccaneering adventure of a lifetime that will take you across the seven seas (and directly into the embrace of some rather naughty ladies dying to meet you.) This is the sort of game AI could never recreate, only because it goes from 0 to 1000 in a matter of seconds.

Once you set its unpredictable plot aside, Lustful Voyage can be a bit of a mixed bag. As much as I love games that don’t take themselves seriously – especially porn games – Lustful Voyage falls into some common pitfalls we’ve seen numerous times in the genre. If you can look past these shortcomings, however, the game is more than worth a try, if only for how off-the-rails the story gets.

Pirate Booty

When you think of pirate games, you probably picture something like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag or Sea of Thieves. Both of those games have something in common: they have zero sex appeal. Lustful Voyage fixes that shortcoming with its delightfully naughty plot.

Remember that thing they say in pirate films about having women on board being bad luck? Maybe they were onto something because Lustful Voyage proves that every person on a ship just explodes in a sea of hormones when they’re left alone with the opposite gender. Your character, however, is a hopeless romantic, and he’ll have to fight against other crewmates for the right to bone the finest pirate booty in the seven seas.

The Grandest Adventures

Surprisingly, Lustful Voyage does more than just be the standard porn visual novel. The game tells a surprisingly ambitious story about a rising threat and pirate prophecies. Sure, it’s mostly window dressing, but for someone like me who just loves everything related to pirates, the gesture is more than appreciated.

Another thing to note is that the characters are really well-written. Everyone on this crew feels alive and unique, which is something you don’t usually see in a porn game like this. Additionally, the developer acknowledges that not everyone loves NTR, and clearly marked every dialogue that leads down that path in red letters.

Visual Novels Aboard

I have something to confess: I’m not the biggest fan of visual novels. It’s the reason why I loved Summertime Saga so much: those are porn “games”. Titles like Lustful Voyage can feel just like interactive galleries at times. That would be great and all – except the art style rarely lives up to what you’d expect.

Here, every character looks like your average 3D mannequin straight out of Blender. This makes the game itself look a bit shallow and lifeless, even if the plot is trying to sell us some big pirate adventure. Most scenes look downright uncanny, with a plastic sheen that looks exceptionally unnatural. Still, it’s good to see the developer spent a good amount of time finding great models with amazing “proportions.” I’m sure most sea dogs will appreciate the gesture.
