Do you have what it takes to relieve King Edward from his throne?
To prove it you must uncover three magic objects that have been hidden across his kingdom. During your quest to retrieve these three objects (a magic shield, mirror, and chest of gold), you'll encounter strange people and monsters in far-off lands. Use your thinking cap and deductive reasoning to figure your way around the obstacles in your path.
Remember, poor Edward is waiting...
I'm not a big fan of adventure/RPGs, and King's Quest doesn't do much to change my opinions. There is a bit more interaction required than in similar fare, but solving puzzles will never substitute a good laser and invading alien armies.
Similar to the computer game of the same name. 76 different screens with noun and verb commands selected from a list. Not very difficult for the experienced player, but a fun quest game for the average player.
King's Quest is a pretty good all-around game. The quest portion of play is challenging enough to keep you occupied and the overall control sequences add some depth to an otherwise straightforward adventure title. This one won't appeal to shoot-em-up fans, but it will make you think.
A nice change from the typical RPG. The computer doesn't choose who hits who which opens the door for more action. King's Quest requires more interaction and creates a game that demands thought plus skill. Good play time with a password function that will be used frequently.

In King's Quest, the latest quest/adventure game available for play on the Sega Master System (this time from licensee Parker Bros.), you assume the role of a brave warrior on a mission of life or death! It seems that the old King Edward is looking for a successor worthy enough to take his throne. You have been elected to take his place, but before you can take the King's seat, you must uncover three magic objects that are hidden in various locations around his kingdom. These include the magic shield, magic mirror, and magic chest of gold.
Along the way you'll encounter all kinds of people, places, and monsters, who each fit into the entire puzzle. Locate magical objects and use your thinking cap to make it around the obstacles that stand in your way. Present the three magical items to the King to win the game and take control of the entire kingdom!
Get Your Goat
To get around the Ogre guarding the bridge, go to the goat pen and "Show Carrot" to lure the animal away. He will follow you to the bridge at which time you'll discover that goats hate Trolls. Another way to get past the Ogre is with a special gift.
Beat the Gnome
When you get to the old Gnome, guess his name and you will receive magical beans. Use the advice from the note in the witch's cottage and read the alphabet backwards to input his name, Rumplestiltskin, correctly: IFNKOVHGROGHPRM
Climb to the Clouds
After getting the magical beans from the Gnome, find a clear spot on the ground and "Plant Beans". A beanstalk will grow! Climb the beanstalk and you will be in the clouds where a Giant will confront you and the magical chest of gold is waiting!
