Kao the Kangaroo (2021)

Kao The Kangaroo was first released back in the year 2000 by Tate Interactive. In it, you play as Kao, and your mission is to fight off the invaders who invaded your home and captured your forest. The follow-up to three predecessors, the last which was released in 2005, after 15 years this new game was announced last year. Now, we will follow along Kao’s new adventure, as he searches for his missing sister, and also solves the mystery of what happened to his father.

Kangarooin’ Around

There is still not much news on the game, other than the fact that it is planned to be released in 2021. But Tate Interactive was kind enough to release a short fourteen-second sneak peek of Kao’s gameplay. For still being a work in progress, the game looks beautiful, as it will now run in the Unreal Engine.

Back when it was originally released, Kao The Kangaroo received mixed reviews by gamers and critics, as back then it had to compete with similar games of the same genre. The game was set in different stages for you to complete, and in each of them, you had collectibles, and enemies that stood in your way. It also had platforming elements. And from what we saw from the new game short gameplay video, these things will carry over.

Kao is still equipped with his trustworthy boxing gloves, so for sure, they will still be put to good use. However, being able to introduce new ways to use them, as different kinds of power-ups for the gloves would be fun.

Expectations

With this new title, there are a lot of things we want to see. One of the biggest changes in Kao The Kangaroo is for sure its visual upgrades. On their site, you can access a gallery with screenshots of game stages, and Kao’s new look. The game looks amazing, and the enemies and stages look cool and exciting.

Story-wise, in this game we will follow Kao as he ventures to find his missing sister, and also to find out what happened to his father. Along the journey, Kao will learn from his master and friend Walt, not only the way of fighting but other worthy lessons. Along the way, you will also build new friendships, as well as strengthen old ones.

There are other things we still don’t have much information about, but one of the most anticipated ones is for sure the puzzles, and the new engaging stages, like the snowboarding one in Kao The Kangaroo: Round 2.

Overall

Kao The Kangaroo is finally making its comeback after sixteen long years, fans are going to see a new title to the franchise. After all this time, we can for sure expect to see many new features. If you like games like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, Kao is gonna be a whole lot of fun for you. It will be amazing to see what the game will offer, and the new stages are something to up to.
