Hamster Hunter might be the most insane game that I have played over the last few years. I love hamsters, so a game where you hunt and kill them may not sound like something I would love. However, this was so weird that I could not stop playing!

Revenge of the Hamster

There is not a ton of story at play here, but the basics are that we play as a student who has returned home after the holidays. Instead of finding our family, we find a weird note and soon realize that our family was killed by hamsters! Yes, this is freaking weird, but I kind of like it. The game gives you its premise and then just sets you loose with the idea that you are going to make these hamsters pay for what they have done.

The Doomsday Device

A little reference to WWF Super WrestleMania legends, The Legion of Doom, for you there, but this is very fitting as far as the gameplay of Hamster Hunter goes. You see, this is a first person game where you can set traps to capture the hamsters, and then you can do all kinds of horrible things to them, such as cutting their heads off or just straight-up skinning them. There is not much in the way of challenge here, but there is just something so wild and over the top that you kind of want to just see it through until the end.

The Low Poly Horrors

I have to be honest and say that if this game had realistic or cute-looking hamsters that I had to kill, chances are I would not have played it. However, they have gone for a low-poly retro, PlayStation 1 kind of look for the visuals, and that makes it work. The game is rather unique looking, and the grisly ways that you can take the hamsters down will probably make you chuckle. The whole hamster man horror thing that the game has going on (no spoilers here) is kind of fun and twisted, so that was something I did get a kick out of.

I get that Hamster Hunter may be a bit weird for some, but that is what makes this game unique and well worth your time checking out, even if you love hamsters like I do. I had a pet hamster for years called Hammond, named after the character from Overwatch and I was fine playing this game.
