GRAPPLING FANS BEWARE OF THE HAMMER LOCK
Wrestling fans get ready to go off the top rope with some no-name wrestling stars. The squared circle is their battleground and you control their every move.
The object of the game is to drive your opponents' faces into the mat, using your foot as the accelerator. You can team up with your friends; up to 11 people can play (four players at a time) this cart.
You can pin your opponent to win the belt or put a special move on him to make him scream "Uncle" Video Cowboy. Beware of wandering around the outside of the ring for too long because the hammer may come down on the bell and you will lose the match due to a count out. You can take part in a Champion League Match where up to 11 wrestlers can compete in a league with the winner having the most overall points. The match table ensures that every player wrestles tor the belt. In League Match you will be awarded points for how well you do inside the ring. There is also a Tournament Match Mode. If you lose, you're out and sent to the locker room.
If you enjoy fast wrestling action and the sounds of bones being crunched, then I suggest you give this cart a try. You won't be disappointed!

Game Reviews
- Manufacturer: Jaleco
- Machine: SNES
This wrestling game hits the mat like the local cannon fodder after an airplane spin from Hulk Hogan. You could give this game a rent, or you could just count to three. It's out.
Jaleco's Hammerlock is an interesting but confusing SNES wrestling game. It starts off as a standard wrestling game, and then metamorphoses into an ineffective hybrid of wrestling and cartoons that mars the game play.
The Stats
Hammerlock has lots of options, including four-player simultaneous game play in exhibition, champion, or tournament matches. You can also customize features like the difficulty and round length. You brawl with 12 fictitious, colorful wrestlers.
ProTip: You only have a 20 count outside the ring before you're disqualified.
A Screen Divided
The most unique feature is the screen, which is divided into three horizontal windows. The middle window shows a side view of the ring and wrestlers. The top and bottom windows show animated close-ups of the wrestling action.
Unfortunately, with so much animation, it's difficult to keep focused on the game! Although visually impressive, these changes in focus drastically interrupt the game's flow.
The animation also stunts the game play. Since the action takes place in a third of the screen, the wrestlers are small and unimpressive. The ring has little sense of depth, which limits the movements of the characters.
On-screen action responds well to the controls, but there's a limited number of moves. The adequate sound effects serve the animation more than the game play.
ProTip: Comer an opponent to cut off his options.
Out for the Count
Hammerlock has more aesthetic appeal than real-time wrestling action. Although fun to watch, the animation and game play soon become repetitive. Look elsewhere, wrestling fans.
