Elevator Action

Published by Nintendo of America Inc. and developed by Taito Corporation, this action and side-scrolling platform video game was released in 1985.

The mission of the main game character Agent 17 (the codename: "Otto") is to protected all top secret documents from a security building, using an increasingly complecated series of elevators.

Enemies’ spies are all around the 30-floor building and their only mission is to by all means get Agent 17. There are a few possible ways for Agent 17 to kill spies. Such as shooting them with his gun, crushing them with an elevator and so on. The elevators are not the only means of travel as it might be considered from the name of the game. But there are escalators as well, riding you up or down.

It maybe useful if you want to keep away from gunfire. If takes Otto too much time to get the documents, the alarm will go off. In this case he will have trouble controlling the elevators, which will require time to react.

Game Reviews

Lovin' an elevator! Big time! In the Good Old Days™, games were simple and fun and what was wrong with that? Nowadays™, the success of a game seems to be down – in large part – to how pretty it looks. So in this age of 128-bit consoles, it's refreshing to see a game on the Game Boy which counts on the gameplay rather than on how many lovely images it can boast. Elevator Action isn't going to win prizes for best new or most amazing-looking game, but it does what the Game Boy was designed to do. Namely: to present games which are simple enough to just pick up and play, with gameplay to keep you hooked.

Going Down?

In Elevator Action, you play as one of three secret agents, whose mission is to infiltrate top government buildings and, using lift shafts, escalators and air ducts, break into rooms and steal top secret documents! Each agent has a different ability that distinguishes them from the others. So, for example, one might be fast and a good jumper but he may not be so strong, while someone who is very strong might be a bit on the slow side! The action is definitely 'old school' and very reminiscent of those good old Spectrum and Commodore games. You must run, jump and shoot your way through four large buildings in a side-on scrolling adventure that plays better than it looks. The bad guys and booby traps ensure that the action flows at a blistering rate, and coupled with the numerous weapon upgrades, this game is also strong on variety too!

The downside is that a lack of a password or save-to-cart system means that you always have to start at the beginning of the game when the machine is turned on, and – after a while – the action does get repetitive. Despite this though, the simple gameplay is addictive, and if you're going on any long car or train journeys then it's perfect for passing those otherwise dull hours!

Tilings really heat "up" in Elevator Action from Taito. In this crazy vertically and horizontally scrolling adventure you, Agent 17, embark on a search for an illusive criminal organization called the BGI. They've hatched an assault plan which, if carried out, will jeopardize national security. All of the information about the plan has been stored on computer disks -your job is to retrieve them. The disks are hidden somewhere inside the BGI headquarters. You must infiltrate the building and use its elevators, escalators, and secret chutes to search the place top to bottom. Remember, the BGI's got something to hide, so be prepared to face some major security systems, including robotic guards, vicious dogs, alarm sensors, and more. What goes up must come down-can you bring down the BGI?

NES veterans will remember this title as one of the first generation of games. Taito has shrunk the soft down Lo' to GameBoy size and will be bringing it out later this year. Your mission is to find the secret papers hidden in one of the rooms and then make it down to the ground floor where your get-away car awaits you. The other spies are after the same papers and they will do anything to stop you. Shoot them before they plug you. Check all the doors, and hitch a ride in the elevators but watch out for the enemy gunfire. Shoot out the lights to darken the screen!
