Sports games are always a hit, no matter what. They always draw the attention of those who love watching or playing sports, and even if the game isn’t that good, they will always buy, hence why releasing a yearly game is so effective; Sports games will always have their own fan base ready to spend some hot money on them. This is the case of EA Sports PGA Tour; a pretty good Golf game, but it can be better.

The Best Golf Simulator

The main thing that makes Sports games enjoyable is the capacity the player has to play with their favorite Golf players, and EA Sports PGA Tour is not an exception, as it’ll include personalities like Nelly Korda, Lexi Thompson, Jordan Spieth, and many more.

But that’s not all, as it’ll also include a total of 28 official courses to play on, and there will be many more to come. For the moment, the most important ones included in the game are Augusta National, St. Andrews, Pebble Beach, PGA West, Wilmington Country Club, and much more.

EA Sports has plans to add Olympia Fields, Royal Liverpool, and Oak Hill. The future is bright for this game; things have just started.

Is This The Real Life?

The second-most important feature of a Sports simulator is reality; you can call a game a simulator if it doesn’t simulate real life. This game does perfectly, mostly because of two factors; the game is as beautiful as it can be thanks to Frostbite, EA’s preferred Graphic Engine, and the gameplay, which has a lot of upgrades and new systems since 2015, the last time people has seen a Golf game.

It’s fair to say that EA Sports has improved their usage of Frostbite, as the EA Sports PGA Tour looks incredible; the water effect is well done, the trees don’t look like plastic props planted in the middle of the course, the golf players don’t have a death stare on their eyes (which is a thing everyone has to be grateful about) and the overall color scheme of the game is well polished.

It’s fair to say that the game isn’t flawless; there are some visual problems here and there, but, at this point, this is a common thing for EA Sports games. If you want a further reference, just take a look at the visual bugs the FIFA saga has been through.

Time To Win the PGA

EA Sports included what they call “a system” to get to the final goal: make the player feel like they are real-life pro-golfers. This system is named “Pure Strike”, and it’ll help you by giving you all the tools you need to strike every hole in every course like the professionals would do. It works in three phases; the first one is the swing, which will be as accurate as you can do it with your controller, then, the ball behavior, which will be highly responsive to its environment, and then, the courses themselves, which will influence the behavior of the ball with its ramps, flats, and more.

Rate: 8/10

EA Sports always give love to these kinds of games; you can feel it as they develop a system to make the player enjoy more the game.

Sadly (and this is the problem with every Sports Simulator), you won’t enjoy it as much as you would if you are a golf fan.
