DIRTY PRISON SHIP

I had been wanting to check out Dirty Prison Ship for quite some time. I had heard nothing but good things about this epic sci-fi and horror lewd visual novel. Thankfully, a hardworking and very talented fellow has been working on a translation for a while now, so we can play this game in English. This is a pretty epic kind of visual novel, and when I say the game is sci-fi horror, let me tell you, this is not for the faint of heart, as some of the stuff you will see in this game is pretty extreme!

The Best Kind of Inspiration

Before we dive into why I think the story that Dirty Prison Ship is telling is so awesome, I do have to talk about the inspiration for this game. When I read that classic sci-fi horror movies such as Alien and The Thing were the inspiration for the kind of sci-fi horror that this game is offering, I knew I was in. What is very cool is that while those are great movies, it does, as far as the story goes, have some similarities with those same sci-fi horror video games, I am, of course, talking about the awesome Alien: Isolation and The Thing video game, which recently got a very well-done remaster.

Talk About Bad Luck

The story of Dirty Prison Ship is pretty awesome. We are on a spacecraft, and our resources are running very low. We think that we have hit the jackpot when we come across some kind of abandoned space vessel that appears to be a research ship of some kind. Rather than being our salvation, this ship is the stuff of nightmares as there is an entity on board that is going to try and get its slimy tentacles on us and the rest of the crew and turn us into what is best described as breeding machines! If you are a fan of sci-fi horror, there is a lot of fun to be had here with the story.

Trust No One

The story is very similar to that of Alien, and The Thing, and that is something the gameplay of Dirty Prison Ship has going on, too. Granted, this is a lewd visual novel, and the gameplay consists of making decisions as the story progresses. These range from dialogue decisions to more hands-on and life or death kind of situations. Of course, there is a lot of XXX stuff going on, and you will try and go down that path. However, the gameplay is way more tense than you may be expecting, as you never know who you can really trust or if someone you are talking to has been assimilated already.

A Slippery Ship Indeed

For some people, the XXX content in this game may be a bit too much, and there were a couple of scenes that had me saying “nope” as I was playing Dirty Prison Ship. such as one where a chick had a tentacle coming out of her butt! However, it is all very well done, and it is pretty much exactly what you would expect from a lewd sci-fi horror game that has a big gross tentacle monster pulling the strings! The character designs are great, and there are really well-done shots of characters bending over or looking sexy, even when a XXX scene is not happening. The deeper you get into the game, the more off the rails the content gets, and while it may be a tad too slimy and tentacle-based for me, I can appreciate just how good it all is.

Pros:

• I thought the setting was so cool
• The Alien and The Thing's inspiration is very evident
• Some of the choices were really hard to make
• The art is gross and very well done

Cons:

• It may be a tad extreme in some scenes
• I did have a few crashes after installing the translation patch
