DCS: MAD AH-64D Campaign

I love taking a look at the DCS campaigns as they have two cool things; they are really fun and can work to teach you a couple of things about the story of wars and relevant events. This is exactly what you can expect from DCS: MAD AH-64H Campaign, where you’ll be flying an Apache AH-64H Helicopter through the skies of Iran.

A Catching Story

In this campaign, you’ll be an official of the UAE Air Force, part of the Special Operation Squadron. Iran is involved in having Nuclear Weapons, and your objective is to sabotage them as, otherwise, they would annihilate both the attackers and the defenders.

There are 12 missions where you’ll be doing aerial support to ground units, flying over recently nuked sites, working as the leader of your team, and sabotaging the Iranian nuclear weapons through intelligence missions.

The campaign’s pretty detailed and it works as a faithful representation of the Persian Gulf conflict. Also, the game takes its time to explain everything to the player; How to control your Apache AH-64H, the weapons the enemy has and how will they use them with you, and everything you have to be aware of. This campaign is packed with adrenaline as it throws you into aerial fights from the get-go.

DCS: MAD AH-64H Campaign is the most detailed one in terms of storytelling!

Working as a Teammate

Something I’ll highlight from this game is the synergy you can have with your teammates. Again, DCS takes its time creating an incredible amount of voice-over dialogues that will help you through your missions in the Persian Gulf. It makes you feel like there are actual people behind their screens playing with you!

Details

This DCS doesn’t feel empty at all. It’s packed with details and great war scenes. I love taking a look at the ships in the seas; even if you’ll not see them for a long while, they are excellent, and it feels like Stone Sky, the developers, put a ton of effort into every single aspect of the game!

DCS: MAD AH-64H Campaign’s maps are filled with planes and helicopters flying and battling while there are ground units all over the place. This game has nothing to envy to war-based games like the old-fashioned Battlefield titles; it’s perfect!

The Apache

Unlike other similar campaigns, like DCS: Speed & Angels Campaigns, the DCS: MAD AH-64H Campaign isn’t as hard as you might think. Of course, it requires some basic experience playing the game, hence why I always recommend playing the base game before getting into these kinds of expansions, yet you get to the action straight from the beginning, and is not hard to get used to it.

• A high replay value because of the heavy amount of details this campaign has
• It’s easy to sympathize with the characters of the game

Cons

• Hard to understand. It happens with DCS in general as it’s not beginner-friendly
