An out-of-this-world top-down shooter experience, Cygnus Enterprises puts the player in command of a derelict base on a remote planet. Navigate perilous terrain and survive the hostile environment in this addictive title that oozes untapped potential. Build, create, and customize your own space adventure.
From a pure gameplay perspective, Cygnus Enterprise is simply phenomenal. With its responsive controls and fantastic grasp of what players want to see from this type of game, hardly anything else feels this good to play in the genre. However, some limitations of its early access release prevent the game from reaching its true potential.
Rain of Bullets
Cygnus Enterprises is a top-down shooter hybrid that tales takes its fluid gameplay quite seriously. The story takes place on the planet Mytilus, where a derelict base becomes yours to command. However, before you get yourself comfortable you'll have to deal with the planet's hostile fauna.
The combat and controls feel fast and responsive, with every encounter feeling like a demanding (but not impossible) task for the player. While it still doesn't feel as fluid as something like Hades, the gameplay of Cygnus Enterprises is still serviceable enough to please most players.
Customizable Adventure
The very first time that you embark on a journey in Cygnus Enterprises, you'll notice that the game offers a wide array of customization options to make each experience feel truly unique and different from that of any other player.
From choosing your hair color to styling your hair and even picking your armor and its accent colors, the attention to detail in the game's character creator is astonishing – especially for a game in which you rarely get to see your character up close.
This feature benefits from Cygnus Enterprises' visuals, which offer a nice blend of realism and just the right hints of cartoon-like aspects to make the game appealing to a wider audience.
A Unique Blend
One thing that differentiates Cygnus Enterprises from other games in its genre is that this title delivers a unique mixture of action RPG combat and base management gameplay to engage the players even more. Does it work? The short answer: absolutely.
Every aspect of the base management mechanics feels easy to understand, and the few that aren't are properly explained to the player in a tutorial that doesn't feel tedious at all.
Fans of games like Cities: Skylines or Civilization: Beyond Earth will be pleased to see that the UI during these base-building segments resembles that of the most popular city-building games out there.
Cygnus Enterprises is on its way to becoming something truly unique that fans of top-down action games and base management sims will love – it just needs a few tweaks and more content to reach its full potential.
