Chenso Club

I do not think that there is a rogue like style of game with more charm than what Chenso Club has right now. This is due out in the spring of this year and it just looks like it is going to be such a blast to play either on your own or with a buddy. I have a real feeling that this game could end up being one heck of a cult hit. It has a very quirky and funny style to it that I am sure is going to be appealing to many different types of gamers.

Aliens Attack

The whole premise and story of Chenso Club is that aliens have invaded and are trying to take over. Thankfully we have the Chenso Club which is a group of badass girls that are not going to just stand by and let these aliens take over the world. They are going to knuckle up with their fists, chainsaws, bats, and other cool weapons to save the day.

Welcome To The Club

As I write this, we know for sure that there will be three members of Chenso Club, but I have a sneaking suspicion thanks to what the developer has said on Steam, that there could be more added by the time the game is released. We have Blue who is an android that thanks to alien technology is powerful and she has a cool chainsaw. Red is part of the royal guard and it is her duty to protect the king. As the king has been taken, she needs to use her skills and big ass hammer to save the day. Plum is a mage who studies witchcraft and will use magic to fight her way through the game.

Never The Same

The reason that Chenso Club is being described as a roguelike is that the levels are randomly generated and when you die you die! The game is certainly challenging, but thanks to the slick controls, this side scrolling style of action feels great and when you do die, it never feels unfair. You have a nice selection of attacks that you can use, but when you defeat enemies, you can take their life force and you can use this to enhance your abilities by trading it for cool new stuff. There is also a co-op option where you guys can have fun seeing who is the best.

Cute, But Very Deadly!

The whole game just has a very cool style to it all. While Chenso Club is using a pixel art presentation, it has a ton of personality. I like how the characters are cute, but they can hack and slash enemies into a million pieces and you see the pieces and blood flying all over the place. The level design has a ton of little details to it all and the whole game really is just a joy to the eyes. I also get a kick out of the funky soundtrack that the game has as well which fits the zany action perfectly.

Pros:

• The three characters we have seen so far are all awesome
• I love the humor and wacky style that the game has
• The gameplay is very easy to pick up and play, but there is also a level of depth here
• You can also play this with a friend in co-op which is fun

Cons:

• Just how many more characters will be added to the roster?
• I hope that they do add a few more game modes after the game is released
