BrokenLore: DON'T WATCH

As I write this, BrokenLore: DON'T WATCH is not yet fully released, but I liked the previous game in this series. Actually, I think I may be all in on this stuff as the series is just set to grow and grow. If you are into horror, especially horror that is just as much psychological as it is blood and gross-looking stuff trying to end you. This game we are looking at today and this series, in general, is 100 percent for you. There is a demo of this out there and that gives you a great indication of if this game is for you.

A Young Man With Problems

Shinji is a young man living in Tokyo and he is our main character in BrokenLore: DON'T WATCH. Shinji lives on his own in his apartment and feels like no one gets him. He is stuck inside, almost scared to go out and face the world. However, you get the feeling that Shinji wants more from his life and he does not want to be the way that he is. As Shinji falls further and further into despair, he is going to have to be brave and face his greatest fears if he wants to get out of this with his sanity and potentially his life intact!

Welcome To The Room

The best comparison I think for BrokenLore: DON'T WATCH is Silent Hill 4: The Room. Shinji starts to have a dark presence, this being called Hyakume an evil entity that has 10 eyes watching his every move. He is messing with Shinji and Shinji starts to question what is real and what is not as he is pulled and twisted into Hyakume’s nightmare world, all the while seemingly still in his apartment! If you love horror, especially stuff in the Silent Hill games or even the Parasite Eve games, you will get a massive kick out of the dark and disturbing things that are going on here.

Getting Out Alive

With a pretty dark and messed up psychological story like BrokenLore: DON'T WATCH has, the game is played from the first-person to really make you feel like you are in Shinji’s shoes. You need to explore your apartment, go on your computer, and do typical mundane stuff, but before long you are in a fight for your life as you will have to explore a dark and twisted reality, looking for items, solving puzzles and most importantly of all, try to keep your sanity as you get out of this nightmare you are in. I am not exactly sure how long this game will be or how much replay value it will have. However, the last game, BrokenLore: Low took me around an hour to beat so I would assume this will be roughly around the same kind of experience. ,

Seriously…. Don’t Watch!

This is such a disturbing looking game…. And I love that about BrokenLore: DON'T WATCH! If you are a horror fan, you are going to eat this nightmarish world up. From seeing a demented looking pizza guy at your front door to having to manual stab an eye with a blade as the blood runs down your wall. There are so many great and terrifying moments in this game! Being chased by something horrific and even as you start to question if this is real or if Shinju has lost his mind, you never know for sure what the game is going to throw your way next. When this is fully released, I have a funny feeling that this will be a big hit on some streaming channels as I can see some folks freaking out big time as they play this.

8.5

If you are into horror games, no matter if it is something like The Quarry, Silent Hill 2, Fatal Frame 2, or whatever, BrokenLore: DON'T WATCH is a must play game for you. This is going to really have you on edge as you play it and you will have a terrifying, but great and fun time. Please note, that my score is based on my experience with the demo and my anticipation for the full game. I also highly recommend that you check out BrokenLore: Low which is also part of this series.

Pros:

  • Shinji is an interesting and complex character
  • Some of the stuff in this game is pretty gross and I love that
  • This has some truly spine-tingling psychological horror
  • Horror fans are going to love this game!

Cons:

  • It could be a rather short experience
  • I am not sure how much replay value there is here
