Billie Bust Up

As I write this, we are at the end of 2025 and Billie Bust Up and the trailer that it dropped has had me more excited than anything else and that is not an exaggeration! Now, the game may not be released when I am getting my thoughts down on paper…. Well digital paper, but you get what I mean. However, I was so blown away by what I saw here, I had to get my thoughts on it down and hopefully get more people interested and excited about this awesome rhythm based 3D platform game.

Billy Goat!

The story here is just amazing, well from what I have seen so far. Billie Bust Up is clearly inspired by all of the animated classics that we all grew up with. The main character is a young goat called Billy who along with her fox buddy, need to save the day from these weird enemies and the darkness that is spreading over her home. She does this with the help of a mentor called, Aristotle who is an axolotl and who along with her father, saved the day, many years ago. This is just fun and super whimsical stuff!

Music To My Ears

Now, as I write this, I do not know all the ins and outs of the story that Billie Bust Up is going to be giving us. However, what I do know is that this is like some kind of Pixar or DreamWorks type movie with how important music is to the story. Actually, now that I think about it, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two with the way that it weaves music into its narrative is a great example of the storytelling that is at play here. Of course, if you are not into musicals, this may not be for you, but to be honest, you could then apply that to the whole game as music is a major part of the package here. From what I have heard so far, the soundtrack in this game absolutely rocks!

More Than Just Words And Music!

Of course when a game like Billie Bust Up is classed as a musical, it is very easy to just focus on the music that the game has. However, this game also looks fantastic as well, taking a great deal of inspiration from many of the Disney classics. The animation is amazing and what has impressed me the most so far is the incredible facial animations that the various characters have which really do bring them to life. The whole game world is packed full of whimsy as well. It is honestly just as much of a treat for the eyes as it is the ears. This is the kind of game that will just appeal to everyone, no matter if they are 5 or 55. Kids will love how cute and adorable it is, but adults will also love it because it will make them feel like a kid again!

Billy Jean Is Not My Lover, She’s Just A Goat

Ok, that was horrible, but the rhythm based gameplay that Billie Bust Up offers is truly something special. It is not the entire game as there is a lot of platforming, exploration and from what I have seen, even a bit of puzzle solving. Billy has a magical umbrella and a selection of magical abilities that she can use as she progresses through the game. However, it is the musical combat system that deserves the most attention. Think of games like Metal: Hellsinger and Hi-Fi Rush if you want a modern example of this. It makes for a challenging, but also very fun combat system and once you get into the groove, it is just a feeling that is indescribable.

Pros:

• Billy is a wonderful character
• The music and visuals are movie like!
• The combat system is something very special
• This has the potential to be the game of the year!

Cons:

• You do need to like rhythm based combat
• If musicals are not your jam, this may not be for you
