Arma 3: Jets

Today I am checking out ARMA 3 Jets which as you have probably guessed is another DLC pack for ARMA 3. Let me start by saying that ARMA 3 is an awesome game and one that I have spent a ton of time with. Some of the other DLC packs for it have been great and full of awesome stuff. Jets on the other hand I feel is really only worth checking out if you are heavily into ARMA 3.

Take To The Skies!

As the name Jets suggests, fighter jets are what this DLC is all about. I will not pretend to be an aviation expert, but what I can tell you is that the included jets, F/A-181 Black Wasp II, To-201 Shikra, A-149 Gryphon and the Sentinel are all awesome in their own way. These look just like the kind of fighter jets you would see in a movie and I think they do have a very realistic look to them. There are two aircraft carriers added to the game which look awesome and while they do not actually do anything they do help with the atmosphere.

Bogey On Your Six!

As well as including jets, ARMA 3 Jets also gives the radar interface a facelift. It has actually been overhauled in a pretty extreme manner and I would say for the better. It makes taking down and locating enemies much easier and as a result, the battles that you will be taking part in are a great deal of fun.

As well as this they have changed the way damage is dealt. We all know that realism is something ARMA 3 takes very seriously. Well, now getting shot does not automatically mean the end of your mission. Taking a shot to an important area such as the fuel tank can make it harder to survive, but you still do have a bit of a fighting chance.

The Best Of The Best

The whole flying experience is just a lot of fun. This goes from the way the jets handle to the new dynamic loadout system which gives you a lot of options when it comes to what kind of firepower you will have while you are up in the sky. It is the kind of thing I can see some people getting really into and it is quite easy to get to grips with too.

Any Story Content?

I love the story in ARMA 3 and some of the DLC has had fun story missions to take part in. That is not the case here as all there is for you is a new showcase scenario called Showcase Jets which is ok, but as the main “game mode” of this DLC, it is sorely lacking in comparison to what other DLC packs have offered.

ARMA 3 fans will really eat up what ARMA 3 Jets is offering. From a gameplay point of view, taking to the skies and doing battle is a great deal of fun. I just wish that they put in a short story for us to enjoy as this is a DLC pack that feels like it is really lacking in content.

Pros:

• The fighter jets look really cool
• The handling is great
• Fighting in the skies is a lot of fun
• The dynamic loadout system is awesome
• Controlling the jets is much easier

Cons:

• They really should have added some story content
• Not a great deal of content overall
