Adumbral and Crimson

Adumbral and Crimson is a lewd horror game that I really do hope manages to get over the finishing line. As of me writing this, the game is not yet complete, but what is here is great stuff, especially if you love horror. The game has a very cool art style, and while it may be a bit simple on the gameplay front. I actually feel that this works to the game's advantage, as what is here is very entertaining. I will say that this is a game that stars a femboy, but if what I have read is right, there may be plans to add a female playable character at some point.

Not The Best Place To Be Dropped Into

In Adumbral and Crimson, we play the role of a cute and quite femboy who has found themselves dropped into a nightmarish world! It seems like half the things in this world want us dead, and the other half want to have sex with us! We will need to use all of our wits in order to get out of this nightmare that we have found ourselves in. Depending on what you do, there are a few ways that the story and ending can go. With the game being on the short side, I do imagine it is the kind of thing where most people will want to jump back in and see all of the endings.

Simple, But Effective

The game has us walking from room to room, and we have a weapon that we can slash away with. Adumbral and Crimson can be a pretty challenging game in that when you die, you die; there is no saving your game here, you need to start from the beginning. You come across the enemies, and you need to subdue them. As you would expect, you do this by either killing them or letting them have some fun with your cute femboy body. The game is viewed from a kind of halfway there isometric point of view, think of something like Banjo Kazooie: Grunty’s Revenge on the GBA or even something like Head Over Heels on the ZX Spectrum if you want to get super old school about it!

More Potions For The Oceans

While I would say that this is more of a hack-and-slash kind of game than anything else. Adumbral and Crimson does add a little bit of depth in the form of these potions, which can be added to your sword to give it different effects, such as poison and holy water. The idea being, you play around with these with different enemies to see which ones do what. The game is a tad on the buddy side. I did have a few crashes, and there was one time where this character seemed to have spawned too early, and that caused my whole game to crash, and I had to start from the beginning.

Black And White Is Cool

The monochromatic art style that the developer has gone for here in Adumbral and Crimson is awesome, and I am sure something that has attracted many people to this game. The black and white sprites look fantastic, and despite having a bit of a retro soul with the style of the sprites, everything is nice and clear and easy to see. The XXX content in the game is pretty fun too, and you unlock these scenes so you can view them later at your own leisure. as this is part of the femboy games collection, it does require that you have a liking for this. However, as I said, there has been some chatter online about a female protagonist being added to this game.

Pros:

• The femboy main character was interesting
• I found the world we were dropped into to be very intriguing
• I loved the black and white pixel art the game had
• The hack-and-slash style gameplay is fun

Cons:

• I did have a few technical issues while I was playing
• The setting is great, I just wish it were fleshed out more
