Today I am checking out 11 Days or if you want the full name of the game, 11eyes: Tsumi to Batsu to Aganai no Shōjo whichis one heck of a mouthful. This would go onto become a successful anime, but today I am looking at the original game which was released. One cool bit of trivia about this game which I was today years old when I learned was that there was a port of this game released on the Xbox 360! How crazy is that? I do not think there are many visual novel games on the Xbox 360 which makes this pretty unique.
The Red Night Is Here
I always say that a visual novel game lives and dies by its story and I have to say that 11 Eyes has one of the best stories I have played in a visual novel game. This is like something out of a Marvel movie (well an R Rated Marvel movie) and I was so into it that I hope a live-action of this does happen someday.
The basics of the story are that we have our “hero” in Kakeru who lost his sister many years ago who has had a hard time since. His friend, Yuka has helped him get back into the swing of things and life looks like it could be turning somewhat normal again. Until one day people start disappearing and monsters appear and a group of creatures known as Back Knights starts hunting them down.
What makes the story really cool is that they meet up with these other interesting characters, and they all have a special power! Each character is very well written and developed and the powers are really cool.
Dark And Moody
I love and I mean love the art style of 11eyes: Tsumi to Batsu to Aganai no Shōjo. The game starts kind of light and your typical visual novel style. However, when it all goes to hell, 11 Eyes has this awesome dark, moody and evil presentation to it. I love the use of dark colors and the big anime eyes that the characters have allowed the people making the game to convey emotion very well.
The game also has voice acting which is fantastic and helps get you invested in the story even more. I have not checked out the anime, but I would bet they took much of what was done here and just used that as it was so well done.
Finding Your Power!
The gameplay has you reading the story and then making the decisions to move the story in the direction you see fit. There are actually more choices for you to make here than many other visual novels have.
Since I was so invested in the story of the game, I found myself playing this all the way through in just a few sittings! You can unlock some cool images as you play and this was something that I did find very addictive.
As you can tell, 11 Eyes is a game that I have a lot and I mean a lot of time for. I thought that the story they told here was very special indeed and I highly suggest that you read as little about before you play it as it is very well done and full of awesome twists that you do not see coming. If you enjoy visual novels and want one that is a bit “darker” and also a bit more “Hollywood” in the way it tells its story, I cannot recommend this game highly enough!
Pros:
- The whole premise of the game is great
- There are tons of interesting characters in this game
- Your choices feel like they actually matter
- The game looks like a movie that has come to life
- It is one of the few visual novels they made for the Xbox 360
Cons:
- I want a live-action version of this story!
- I cannot think of anything bad to say about this game!
