Wallace & Gromit In Project Zoo is a platform game based on the British stop-action show Wallace & Gromit. It was extremely popular at its time, so popular in fact that a video game was released. In it, you follow both characters as they go to the zoo to rescue the animals there, and also to undo Feather’s work.

Gameplay

You take control of Gromit during the game, and you must use Wallace’s invention to overcome obstacles and defeat robots under Feathers McGraw’s control. The game plays like a lot of other platform games that were released at that time, like the Crash Bandicoot games and Spyro.

The game is riddled with different areas, and each of them is on a different part of the zoo, and they all will provide all kinds of challenges that must be overcome by the player. As you go through each stage, you will use Wallace’s inventions to help you, and you also need to rescue the animals.

Story

Their old enemy Feather McGraw. was able to escape from the penguin enclosure at the West Wallaby Zoo, and after taking control of the entire zoo, he captured all the baby animals, while also forcing their parents to work for him. He does all this with one objective in mind: to turn the zoo into a diamond mine.

Wallace & Gromit find themselves involved in this after adopting Archie, a baby polar bear from the zoo. They find that the zoo is closed when they go to celebrate his birthday there and to infiltrate it, they build a giant wood penguin. Now inside the zoo, they must focus on freeing the captured animals and must take down Feather McGraw.

You will get the feeling that you’re playing through a movie of Wallace & Gromit, and to be able to control Gromit is absolutely a unique experience.

Summary

Wallace & Gromit makes it possible for fans of the duo to control them while embarking on a journey. So if you’re a fan of platform games and the show, you will have tons of fun while playing this. It also features the amazing voice actor of Wallace, which makes the experience of the game feel like you’re playing a movie.

The game was released back in 2003 for the Gamecube, Xbox, and Playstation 2. The game has received mixed reviews from both critics and players, but it is overall a fun experience to go through, especially if you grew up around the time that Wallace & Gromit was extremely popular.

You might find the gameplay a bit generic, but it is to be expected from all types of platform games. The game tries to stand out by having the player make use of Wallace’s inventions, like the porridge gun, gyrocopter, and the turnip launcher. The game is filled with nostalgic value, and while it is outdated, you might still find yourself having a good time playing it.
