Thirsting for another Neo-Geo fighting game? Well, here you go. Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer is another entry into a long line of formula fighters that have made Nec Geo what it is. Unfortunately, this title isn't nearly as satisfying as some of the most recent hits, like King of Fighters '95 or World Heroes Perfect.
You can choose from eight different cyber-fighters, one of which is the character that the game is named after (gee, I wonder who the best fighter in this game is). Where Gowcaizer differs from other SNK fighters is that once you defeat an opponent, you can now use his or her special move. Building up an arsenal of special moves will make you a butt-kicking machine after a while. These moves are cool and usually involve a ton of pyrotechnics, so expect a little flair.
The problem with this game lies in its playability. I can't put my finger on it, but the game just isn't as "tight" as other Neo Geo fighters. The battle: tend to be short, and don't offer much variation. On top of that, the timing seems a bit off, making play awkward. A fair game, but not worth more than a couple of quarters.

Game Reviews
For its Neo-Geo debut, Technos Japan is preparing this massive 162-Meg fighting game. The story behind this game is a bit twisted--it's about a high school for superbeings with shape-shifting powers (except for a robot) who are conducting a no-holds-barred fighting tournament to determine who will get control of the student body.
All of the characters in this game have been designed by Masami Ohban, the artist who designed all the characters in the Fatal Fury anime series and is the director of the Fatal Fury anime movie.
With plenty of raunchy power moves and special techniques, Gowcaiser should become a worthy member in the Neo's illustrious roster.
