Sword of Girlish Knight

You know, it was the fact that I found so little about Sword of Girlish Knight that made me want to really play it! Well, that and the fact that the game was offering these incredibly large 2D sprites that looked like something from the early 90s! This is an action packed lewd 2D action game, with a sprinkling of RPG elements over the top of it. The game is a lot of fun to play, and I would honestly put it up there as one of the best lewd 2D games that I have played recently. The version I played was in Japanese, but from what I have heard, a translation patch is in the works.

Taking Me Way Back

Before we fully dive into why I think Sword of Girlish Knight is such a great game, I have to talk to you about why this game appealed to me in the first place. This has the look of an early 90s arcade game. In many ways, it reminds me of stuff like the very underrated Magic Sword for the arcade and the very epic Super Nintendo port. Also, there are a little bit of games like Altered Beast in here too, and if I want to reach a little further, even stuff like the Dungeons & Dragons games that Capcom put out in the arcades. Those are the kind of vibes that this game is offering, and that is why this clicked with me right from the start.

Can’t Keep A Good Cult Down!

While the version of Sword of Girlish Knight that I played was all in Japanese, I was still able to make my way through most of what the game had to offer as far as the story went. The game takes place in a fantasy land called Wizrnest, and our brave heroine is part of a guild that is there to take jobs and protect those from harm. Well, there is talk that under the city, in the dungeons and the catacombs, there is this evil and deadly cult that is growing in numbers, and we are tasked with finding the cult and putting a stop to their evil ways!

Always Moving Forward

What impressed me the most about this game was the gameplay. Sword of Girlish Knight is a 2D action game where you walk from the left to the right of the screen. You have a sword and a shield, and you need to block things that come towards you with your shield and then slash at those that cannot be blocked with your sword. You also have magical attacks, and as you progress through the stages and defeat bosses, you get stronger and better things to attack and defend with. There are a handful of stages, and the progression in the game feels great. I played through it on easy, had a great time, so I went back and played through it again on the harder difficulty. It is the kind of game that just feels great to play, and you really have to play it for yourself to appreciate it.

A Big Chunky Beauty From The 90s!

I was blown away by how great Sword of Girlish Knight looked! Those big chunky sprites reminded me of the games that I loved in the arcades in the early 90s, and the whole game just has a ton of personality to it. The enemy designs are your typical fantasy fare, and the XXX content comes in the form of getting captured and banged by the monsters when you fall in battle. The brave maiden that we play as is cute and very easy on the eyes, but she also has a real badass side to her as well. As I said, the version of the game I played was in Japanese, but I was still able to make my way through the menus and the upgrade system easily enough.

Pros:

• I thought the core gameplay was great
• The dodging mechanic this game has is unique
• Those large pixel art characters look awesome
• This is one of the best lewd games I have played lately

• The translation, as I write this, is not complete
• I could honestly take or leave the lewd content
