In the ever-evolving world of virtual reality gaming, Skydance Games has pulled out all the stops in its latest game title: BEHEMOTH. This dark fantasy adventure drags players through the cursed lands, into brutal combat, and against colossal foes pushing boundaries of what we have known so far regarding VR gaming.
A Fallen Kingdom Awaits
BEHEMOTH transports players to the Forsaken Lands, a kingdom once full of life that now faces a deadly ancient curse. Players take on the role of Wren the Hunter, an outlander warrior of unknown past, in a perilous quest to save their village and themselves from a dark, malevolent presence. The game's story features four vastly different biomes, each with their own challenges and horrors to be faced.
From the moment you don that VR headset, it goes without saying that Skydance has spared no expense in creating a fully immersive world. The snowy tundras and swampy marshlands are incredibly detailed, making for beautiful yet at the same time oppressive gameplay. Also strong is environmental storytelling, for each area is indicative of how such a sad fate was able to befall a kingdom.
The place where BEHEMOTH truly shines, though, is in what Skydance calls "Virtual Physicality." Building on the lessons learned from their previous hit, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners VR, these developers have taken VR combat in all-new directions. Applicants will find themselves applying real force to wielding weapons for bone-crunching, flesh-cleaving encounters that are as satisfying as they can be gruesome.
The combat is strongly reminiscent of Blade and Sorcery, another VR title renowned for its physical interactions. BEHEMOTH pushes this even further by introducing superstrength abilities to make the attacks even more creative and damaging. Whether it's rending marauders limb from limb with your bare hands or cleaving twinkling swarms with some big sword, the feel and weight behind each action are unmatched.
Titanic Battles Against Impossible Odds
Of course, the real stars of the show are the behemoths themselves. These gargantuan creatures work as both the game's primary antagonists and its most exhilarating encounters. They are multi-staged battles showing off every skill in your arsenal from ground to aerial combat.
These encounters become overwhelming in VR. Standing at the foot of a towering monster, preparing to scale its massive form in search of weak points, instills a level of awe that very few other games can match. Developers have performed an epically effortless act of making the battles feel both epic and intimate, as players will need to find themselves using their wits and agility to overcome apparently impossible odds.
Review: 9/10
BEHEMOTH is, without qualification, a powerhouse of VR gaming—a dark fantasy adventure that raises the bar for its medium. Though certainly not for the faint of heart, any player who dares to enter the Forsaken Lands of this title finds a finely detailed world full of violent combat and utterly unforgettable encounters.
In a word, Skydance's BEHEMOTH sets a new paradigm for what is possible in VR gaming. It's visceral, engaging, and will leave every player in awe, gasping for more. Be it a seasoned veteran or someone looking for that next great adventure, BEHEMOTH is an absolute must-play—what more can be achieved with virtual reality gaming.
