Shoretown Saga

Being the “man of the house” has different meanings depending on who you are. In Shoretown Saga, your father has told you to take care of the women of the house until he returns. This includes mundane tasks like doing laundry or meeting the neighbors, but sexy encounters are always waiting just around the corner. Shoretown Saga is a sandbox style game, which means you aren’t going to be told how to unlock exciting scenes in the game. The game does have a good storyline, and sexual scenes are well done.

Tedious UI

Although Shoretown Saga has good bones, the game has some serious problems with the gameplay itself. Players have to move around by clicking a seemingly endless selection of arrows, and there are no hover labels on those arrows.

This means finding your way around the house (a house your character has lived in all their life and ought to know the layout of) needs to be done through trial and error. On top of this, players have to click for virtually every step in the game.

Even worse, the developer has manually disabled the skip button, with a lot of the dialogue being repeated. Just to get through one portion of the story, you may have to click hundreds of times—and read the same lines over and over.

Finally, there’s four separate bars that need to be tended to. These include hunger, thirst, energy and hygiene. Things like eating and drinking also require several individual clicks to get through. The result is that what otherwise might have been an exciting, exploration-based game is bogged down in a slog of clicking.

Poor English

The dialogue that you can’t skip through also has additional problems with it. There are dozens of grammar and spelling errors. Often the problems with grammar are very lazy, such as simply not capitalizing the I in I’m. The result is a very shoddy appearance to the game as a whole. Most players quit two thirds of the way through the game due to a combination of these problems.

Other porn games like The Adventures of Kincaid may have exciting scenes, but it’s also fun to play. This game just isn’t very fun at this time.

Decent Models

The one redeeming feature of this game is that the models are decent. They aren’t the picture of beauty but are more realistic to what real people look like. It’s refreshing to have natural models in a game, vs. people who only exist in magazines.

Shoretown Saga has good bones. With some heavy modifications to the navigation, among other UI issues, the game would be a lot more enjoyable. Dialogue should also be skippable, so that if you’ve already read the same line 10 times, you don’t have to do so again.
