Red Brim

With its amazing visuals, it is easy to see why Red Brim has caught so many people's attention. This is a lewd visual novel that I think leans more towards the dating sim style of gameplay, as it is a little bit more than just making choices. This is a very engaging kind of game, and the best compliment that I can give it is that I reached the end of the current build, and I went straight to the developer to try and see if I could find out when the next update would be dropping. This was a very interesting experience, and I highly recommend that you check it out.

The Girl In The Red Hat

The story of Red Brim is very well done. We play the role of a young man who is a photography student, and he is a very likable kind of character. One day, he comes across a woman in a funky red hat, and he is pretty smitten with her. However, there are many other paths that this young man's coming-of-age story can take, and there are, of course, many different ladies that are going to come into his life. This is a very well-done coming-of-age story, and I am interested enough to want to know what the next chapter is going to have to offer.

Snapping And Clapping

Gameplay-wise, Red Brim is going for something more than just being another lewd visual novel, and this works for better and for worse, too. You do have to make choices in the story as it progresses, in regards to what you are going to do and what you are going to say. There are different ladies in the game that you can move things along with, and there is a lockpicking mini-game, too. There is also a photography element to the game, which I thought was fun, as it has you taking photos with cute girls in it. Honestly, this all works very well, but the game tries to be more than it needs to be, and I think this was a little bit of a mistake if you ask me.

What Is The “Point”?

The visual novel and dating sim stuff in Red Brim is great, and I also thought that the mini-games worked and helped add a little variety to things, and as we are photography student, taking photos makes sense. However, there is also a points-type system at play here; to be fair, earning points with ladies in lewd games is not uncommon. However, here, this stat point style system feels very tacked on, and it forces you to have to grind a little bit. I think if they took this out and just had things be much more straightforward, it would honestly be a better game for it. Or, on the flip side of this, I do feel that they could perhaps add a little bit more to this, make the points actually matter, and then it would feel worthwhile. Although if I had my way, I would just get rid of it entirely.

A True Artist

Ok, so Red Brim does make use of AI art, but I think the ladies here are still super hot. Each of the women who come into this young man's life have their own thing going on, and the buff fit chick was by far my favorite, and the anal scene with her was something that was epic. I do think that a bit more animation would be nice, but I say that about most lewd games. Overall, this is just a stunning-looking game, and even the non-lewd stuff is very well done. They have gone for a nice and bright art style, kind of cartoony, but it works, and it is very easy on the eyes. I guess for those that want a more realistic-looking game, this art style may not click with you, but for me, it was a winner!
