In this exciting action-adventure Onirism, players find themselves in the shoes of a little girl. Carol is an adventurous child with a spunky attitude, who doesn’t take well to her things being stolen. When a mysterious creature bursts into her room through a magic portal and steals her favorite plush, Carol doesn’t hesitate in diving through the portal in pursuit.

Carol finds herself looking for her precious BunBun in the magical world of Crearia. She has her toys to help her, and a can-do attitude. The game plays like a retro PS2 action shooter such as Legend of Spyro or Rayman, but with a magical Alice and Wonderland twist. The result is a unique, wild and colorful game.

Lots of Gameplay

Although Onirism is in Early Release, the developers have put a lot of the game on the table already. 7 of the 10 promised chapters are out, and there are currently 14 out of 20 levels to try. On top of this there are a jaw-dropping 200 weapons and other items you can pick up to aid in combat, hidden levels, and even co-op. There’s also a wide range of modes to play in, including an ‘arcade’ style, and a traditional story mode. Within story mode there are yet more options, with 5 current levels of difficulty. Considering the game is not fully completed, this is an excellent start to the game.

Play With Friends

Onirism allows you to play with friends at this time, but the way it lets you play is a little unusual. The game allows up to four players, but they must be either one person on keyboard and 3 controllers, or everyone on controllers. The game features different modes for co-op, including one that is fully co-op and a ‘versus’ mode if you simply want to test your combat capability with friends.

Some Bugs

The game is in early development, and that means some bugs are to be expected. One of the most difficult ones to overlook while playing the game is the FPS-drop that happens for higher end computers. The solution at this time is to turn off v-syn and enable fps limits. The game is patched regularly, so it’s likely to be fixed soon. Some people found the game almost unplayable with the current issues, others found this solution made the game playable until a patch is created.

Onirism is a cute game packed with action and excitement. The contrast of the cute little girl wanting her toy and the machine guns she’s willing to use to get it back makes the game all the more interesting. Whether you just want to go crazy with a huge number of weapons or solve the mystery of where the toy went, this game has something to offer you. The one price that may be a dealbreaker is the FPS-drop that can make gameplay difficult, however this is very likely to be fixed soon.
