Mayhem in Single Valley

In the trailer for Mayhem in Single Valley, it says that it is the craziest game of the year and I think that they very well could be right with that statement. This is part of the tiny build franchise and it could be their most over-the-top and insane offering yet. This game is probably best described as a puzzle-platformer with a completely nuts story and a fun pixel art style.

Jack And The Apocalypse

The whole premise of the game is something that I think is a lot of fun. In Mayhem in Single Valley, we play as Jack, Jack is just about to leave home and head to the city… but he causes an accident, an accident that accidentally starts the apocalypse with zombies running all around, animals going wild and Jack being the only person that can save Single Valley… and possibly the world.

There are a few twists and turns about your family in this story too which I thought gave it a lot of depth too.

Where To Start?

In talking about the gameplay of Mayhem in Single Valley, I am not 100 percent sure of where to start in describing what the heck is going on with this game. You play as Jack and the game has a top-down style. You will have to do all kinds of crazy stuff ranging from stopping a plane crashing and destroying the place, taking a class at an elementary school, and dealing with a radioactive squirrel that is just bad news.

What I like about the gameplay here is that at first, your instinct may be to just go in with your various weapons and fight! However, that is not always the case. Mayhem in Single Valley is not just a straight-up action game. Instead, you can think about what you are doing so you can use an animal or something else in the area to your advantage so you can get through the level.

Pixelated Crazy Perfection

I am a real sucker for pixel art style games and this one is one of the highest polished pixel art games I have seen in a very long time. It just has a ton of stuff going on and while many games like Mayhem in Single Valley will use pixel art to have a kind of “retro” thing going on. This one has some fantastic special effects going on, the lighting and fire effects in this game, in particular, are truly amazing.

Pros:

• The story in this game is great
• I was surprised at the whole “family dynamic” the story had
• The puzzle/platforming in the game is very fun
• It has some of the best pixel art you will ever see

Cons:

• It may be a tad too “weird” for some people
• While you can use your smarts, more often than not fighting is the way to solve things
