KonoSuba - The Harem Adventures

KonoSuba - The Harem Adventures is a lewd adventure game that is based on a popular anime series. I will admit that despite being an anime fan, KonoSuba is not a series I have any experience with at all so I had to just take this lewd take on it on face value. What we have here is quite strange as the version I have played is classed as an early access demo! What the heck that actually means I am not sure, but from what I experienced it basically means that this is a very, very early build of the game.

Axel Town and the Demon Lord

As I said, I am not familiar at all with the anime so the story of KonoSuba - The Harem Adventures is something that I had to just take as it is. The basics here are that we play as the MC and we play as an adventurer in Axel Town who is tasked with taking down this Demon Lord. There are plenty of side characters and love interests in the game too that we encounter and I think that they have the bones for a good story here. As someone who is not familiar with the anime, I never felt fully lost, but I am sure I missed some great references here.

Sometimes Less Really Is More!

To be fair to KonoSuba - The Harem Adventures the writing here is very good. We have some witty lines of dialogue and I found some of the writing to be legit funny and quite quirky. I get the impression that things here are not meant to be taken all that seriously and that is honestly something that I am more than ok with. However, I will say that the writing in the game does have one problem and that is that it goes on way too long in some places. Some of the dialogue sections here are way too long and I think that the story and the characters would be better if some scenes were edited down a bit.

Hey, I Like Big Boobs So I Like This

I talked about how I probably missed out on some great references in the story of KonoSuba - The Harem Adventures and I am sure that is doubly true for the characters in the game too. There are some very nice-looking characters in the game and I am assuming that they are sexed up versions of characters that are in the anime. I am sure fans of KonoSuba will get a kick out of this like I do when a One Piece porn game has Nami in it. The art in the game is very well done and there is even some animation here and there that does sometimes help with some of those long winded dialogue sections. The bright and colorful visuals are very welcomed and the overall style has made me want to check out the anime.

Two Mini-Games Are Better Than None

The build of KonoSuba - The Harem Adventures that I played was very, very early in development. You basically go on a few quests that involve talking to characters and playing these two mini-games. One has you mashing the mouse button fast, the other stopping it at a specific time. Hey, these are fun and break up the gameplay, but right now, that is all there really is. A combat system is coming and from the couple of screenshots that I have seen, it has a bit of a Pokémon Yellow or classic Pokémon in general vibe which I think is great.

Pros:

• I liked how bright and colorful the game was
• The developer has some great ideas to flesh the game out
• If you like the anime I am sure you will appreciate the characters and references
• I managed to follow the story despite not being familiar with the anime

Cons:

• The build I played had very little content
• Some of the dialogue needs to be edited as it goes on way too long!
