As Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Biosyn Expansion is an expansion, you do need the base game to play it. I will start by saying that if you enjoy the base game, you will enjoy this; it is as simple as that, really. Based on the sixth movie in the franchise, this has some fun content, but it does feel scaled back from what we had with the main game. Still, if you enjoyed the movie, I think that you will get a kick out of this.
The Park Of Your Nightmares!
I think that this is a pretty decent park building game, but Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Biosyn Expansion if I am being honest, is not as much fun as the base game or even Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis or even the awesome and underrated Jurassic Park III: Park Builder for the Gameboy Advance. The Jurassic World: Dominion movie that this is based on, was very divisive with people either thinking that it was fun or that it was the worst movie in the franchise!
Two Chapters Of Death!
I must admit that I was pretty shocked by how short Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Biosyn Expansion was. You only have a couple of chapters. The idea is that we are setting up a new research facility, like the one in the movie. This happens in the first chapter, and then in the second chapter, it all goes to hell, there is fire everywhere, and dinosaurs have escaped! It feels like there is a chapter linking the two together. One saving grace of the story is that they managed to get most of the actors from the movie to voice their characters, which does give it a bit more authenticity.
Dino-Mite!
Gameplay wise, this is what you would expect from this game, but Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Biosyn Expansion is more focused and scaled back. All of the rides, shops, and other attractions are not part of this. Instead, it is just all about the research facility. The coolest thing is the new dinosaurs, you can mine to get new DNA to make feathered dinosaurs! This is more about trying to survive and contain the chaos (there is a Chaos Theory mode, actually) than it is about building a park that makes a lot of money while bringing back to life all kinds of dinosaurs. In many ways, this feels like what an early access version of Jurassic World 2 could have been, as it is like the main game, but it feels like it has many features stripped away or not added yet.
Welcome To Jurassic Park…. World
The presentation of this game since it initially launched has been great, and Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Biosyn Expansion does not disappoint in that regard. We get a nice selection of new dinosaurs, my favorites being the Therizinosaurus and the Pyroraptor. The location is awesome in that we have jungle/forest as well as the lab, and when it all goes to hell, it looks great too. This is more of the same, but it is clearly based on the Jurassic World: Dominion movie and at I think that they did a pretty damn good job of capturing the vibe of the movie here.
If you liked the base game, Jurassic World 2, I do think that it is worth your time giving this a shot. It is a pretty short experience, coming in at just a couple of story chapters, but Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Biosyn Expansion was a fun time, and I liked the new dinosaurs and thought that it was a nice companion piece to the movie. However, I do think that it feels like there is a whole chapter missing, as the leap from chapter 1 to chapter 2 is pretty massive. Still, if you are down with the Jurassic Park games and movies, chances are this will wet your dinosaur whistle.
Pros:
- There are new dinosaurs and skins for older ones
- I liked how they had the actors from the movie in the game
- If you enjoyed the 6th movie, you will enjoy this
- This expansion does not overstay its welcome
Cons:
- I feel that an extra chapter would have been nice
- It strips away many of the park building mechanics of the base game

Game Reviews
Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Biosyn Expansion is a simulator for managing a most unusual park. Roll back time by millennia, taking your visitors back to the Jurassic period. Four different modes are available in the game, each of which presents you with challenging management tasks. The action of the campaign takes place after the events of the movie Jurassic Park 2. Will you be able to deal with the aftermath of the spread of dinosaurs into the wild, or will you take on the simple safe management of the park in the other three modes?
Game Pros:
- Four modes with a variety of challenges
- Elaborate dinosaurs of all known species
If you are a fan of dinosaurs, then there are quite a few different park builder games you could try based around dinosaurs. These park building games give you the opportunity to build up your very own park filled with prehistoric wonders. One game that might catch the eye, then, is Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Biosyn. Developed by Frontier Developments, this game tries to draw fans of many different backgrounds. This looks to add more depth and flesh to what was already a very enjoyable park building experience. Some felt more was needed, and this DLC looks to try and improve on that need. Does it, though? Does it help to flesh out what was an enjoyable if limited park builder?
Add even more depth to your own Jurassic World
This particular DLC add-on looks to build on the features that made the original Jurassic World Evolution 2 so fun. Dominion Biosyn looks to add a bit of extra freshness and a host of new buildings, dinosaurs, and challenges overall. There is quite a lot to love about the series already, but this really looks to add some extra depth and enjoyment to the wider experience.
One thing we immediately noticed about Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Biosyn was that it could make the game more accessible. Some found the original to be a touch challenging to get to grips with. However, this might just lower the bar of entry a little. From those who love games like Theme Park and Parkasaurus to fans of the original game, this should add a bit more control and simplicity.
This is the largest DLC pack yet for the original game, and adds a whole new campaign for you to play through. It is, as you might imagine, tied in with the new Jurassic World movie that is set to come out. You will work alongside some of the famous characters from the series, including Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ellie Sattler. That will be fun for many fans of the series who want a bit of nostalgia paired in with park management.
Satisfying if simplistic park management (7/10)
Much like the original game, though, Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Biosyn has its limits in what it can achieve. You will get to enjoy playing out much of the storylines and ideas from the new movie. You will also get to enjoy some exciting new species not seen in the series so far. This could include feathered dinosaurs. There is also the addition of the Chaos Theory scenario, and that should offer some exciting new gameplay alterations that you could grow to love.
Generally, though, Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Biosyn simply offers more of the same. It can make things feel fresh for veterans, and perhaps simplifies the experience for total newcomers. If you felt like the original was a touch lacking, this might add in the depth you felt was missing.
Pros
- Adds in some very exciting new campaign opportunities based around the new movie
- Great range of new dinosaurs and opportunities, including Chaos Theory gameplay rules
Cons
- Probably does not add enough to make those put off originally get involved again
