Hypnolab

I am always on the lookout for lewd VR games and Hypnolab can be played in both VR and in standard desktop mode. However, the version of the game that I am talking about today is the VR version so that is something to keep in mind as we go forward with this review today. With a name like this, you pretty much know what you are getting into here. What I thought was really neat here was the way that the game had a sense of humor about itself. It is not cracking jokes all the time, but it has a real tongue in cheek vibe to it all.

Welcome Intern

The plot of Hypnolab is something I got a bit of a kick out of. The Peaks Corporation is headed by a wonderful doctor called, Kady Psyche and you are her new intern. She is working on some pretty wild stuff here that is all about hypnotism, brain control, and general control of people. For some strange reason, Dr. Psyche is willing to be the test subject as you perform various tests as you see what you can get her to do!

What Can I Get Her To Do?

The whole premise of Hypnolab is just seeing how much of your will you can impose on your test subject. There are various toys, gadgets, and more around the place that you can interact with as you pretty much use your new position to get her naked and play around with her. That alone would be great, but this game actually has way more than that. There are various puzzles that you have to solve, you can go and explore and find out more about this strange facility. I think it is very impressive what they have done here. They could have just had this as a sex sim where you take control of the subject and “play” with her, but they went for far more than that.

Numerous Games Come To Mind

Hypnolab is a pretty solid looking game. I get a few different kinds of vibes with the game, Dr, Kady kind of reminds me a bit of Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite which is a good thing by the way, well her face does. The actually research facility that you are in reminds me of games like Portal and Prey. The animation of Dr. Kady is pretty good as well so when she is getting wild, she moves pretty convincingly.

I Like To Move It!

As I have only played Hypnolab in VR, I cannot talk about how the gameplays if you are in the standard desktop mode. As this is a first-person VR game, there are only a few ways that you can move around. For this game, they went the teleportation route. The idea being you point at where you want to go, press the button and you go there. It can work and certainly many great VR games have used it. The thing here is that I had a really tough time getting around the facility. Sometimes the game would just flat out not allow me to move which was very frustrating for me.

I think that there are some great ideas here with Hypnolab as far as it being a VR games go. This strange and rather “weird” world that has been created here was something that I got a real kick out of. I think that it has all the makings of something that could have been very special.

Pros:

• I liked the whole world that was created here
• The visuals are pretty impressive
• The idea of being in control of your boss is fun
• There is far more to the gameplay here than I expected

Cons:

• The way the game handles movement does not work very well at all
• It can also be hard to do some puzzles because of the controls too

While Hypnolab VR may have VR in its title, this game can actually be played without a VR headset. I have messed around with both, and to be honest, I do not think you are missing out on much by playing this in the standard desktop mode over VR. Sure, the VR stuff is a fun novelty, but I am having a hard time thinking of anything that I liked way better than what I experienced playing this in the “regular” mode. I did have some fun with this as it has a bit of a quirky vibe about it, and it was something that served as a nice little distraction between other games.

A Great New Job

I had some fun with the story in Hypnolab VR, and I found it to be a bit of a twist in regards to what you would expect from a game like this. The setting is The Peaks Corporation, which is a research institute that is run by Kady Psyche, and she is looking at mind control. We play the role of her new intern who is going to help her work on various experiments in the field of mind control and hypnotism. However, you may think that it is she who will be mind controlling us as we are her test subject, but that is not the case! She wants to be the guinea pig, and we are the ones running the tests!

Is GLaDOS Here?

While I would never go as far as to say that Hypnolab VR is some kind of story-driven masterpiece. I did get a huge kick out of the tone of the game. This is a game that is having some fun with its premise, and there is some very dry humor here. Now that I think about it, in many ways it reminded me of GLaDOS from the awesome game Portal. Sure, the story is not going to blow you away, but I do think at the very least, it is going to be able to get a chuckle out of you here and there.

Kady Just Wants To Have Fun!

One of the most surprising things for me about Hypnolab VR was just how much there was to do here. I came into this expecting a pretty standard sex simulator, but I ended up with way more than that. You see, you use your mind control experiments, and then it is a case of getting Kady to do various things. Of course, you can play with toys and even build up to some very XXX situations with her. However, there are some basic puzzles that you can take on too. In all, I was very happy with the amount of gameplay here. The only downside to the game was the controls. If you are playing this in VR, moving around can be a bit of a chore as it is hard to teleport to exactly where you want to go. Actually, I had an easier time getting around in the regular mode than I did when playing this in VR, so that is something to consider.

Taking A Wild Trip

While there is a lot of time spent in a typical lab setting in Hypnolab VR, this game also has some pretty trippy stuff going on, as well as you can go to some very strange looking places. The purple area really was a head trip, but I mean that in a good way. I feel that the more unique looking areas are where the game shines in VR, as the immersion is very well done. Overall, the game does have a bit of a cartoony vibe, but the XXX content is still a lot of fun and there are many naughty things that Kady can get up to.

Pros:

• Kady was cute and had very bouncy boobs!
• I liked the dry sense of humor the game had
• Controlling Kady to do stuff was pretty hot
• I feel this is far better than people give it credit for

Cons:

• I had a bit of trouble moving around in the VR mode
• This does seem to be a game you either like or you hate
