How to Raise a Happy NEET

Before I played How to Raise a Happy NEET I will admit that I had no idea what a NEET was and even after reading that it is a “not in education, employment or training” young person, I still think it is a super weird title. However, I am glad that it does have this weird title as I am sure I am not alone when I say that it was the title that made me stop and take a look at the game. I ended up playing through this in around 30 minutes so it is a great lewd game for those of you looking for something you can play through in one sitting, perhaps in between larger more time consuming games.

There’s A Knock At The Door

Basically, what we have here with How to Raise a Happy NEET is a game where two people are forced to live together and then an intimate relationship happens. This is something I have seen in many lewd games, but this one does it really well. We play as a young man who lives by himself then one day someone knocks at your door and it is your distant cousin, Shizuku and she needs a place to live and you take her in. Shizuku at first is very quiet and timid and she does have a bit of a troubled past, but with your help, perhaps things can get better.

Finding Your Happy Ending

There is not actually as much story in How to Raise a Happy NEET as you would think. We get a bit of backstory about Shizuku, but I found this to be a game where you try and play the role of the character yourself if that makes sense. There are different endings, but I only wanted to do the one that was more “loving” and had the two of them build a more special connection. There are different endings you can get, but to be honest with you, I was so satisfied with the one I got, that I could not see myself wanting to tarnish that with the others, especially if I got a bad, abusive kind of ending.

Life Is Not A Simulation

The gameplay of How to Raise a Happy NEET is not all that hard to get through. You have affection and H points that will grow, depending on the things that you do with her. You need to help her look after herself by doing stuff like bathing, eating and making sure that she has the stuff that she needs and also the stuff that makes her happy and helps her come out of her shell. It is kind of like a simulation game where you have different items and have to budget them and your time to get the best possible outcome. I would not say that it is all that grindy, but as you would expect, you do have to do some of the same things over and over again, but to be fair that is the case with most games like this.

Fresh Out Of High School

I feel that the stumbling block for some people with How to Raise a Happy NEET may be how young Shizuku looks, this is something that I myself and very sensitive towards, but to be honest, she does look young, but not too young, I think that she has a real cuteness, sweetness, and vulnerability about her and you just want to take care of her. Of course, we have plenty of XXX content, and depending on the choices you make, this may seem more loving or more forced, I personally went for the loving and caring route so there was something a bit more natural when I got the XXX content.

Pros:

• I really liked Shizuki
• The story has a lot of heart if you play it right
• The game is not asking for a great deal of your time
• The visuals are great

Cons:

• It does have some darker themes in certain routes
• I wish that it were a bit longer
