Forza Motorsport 3

If you ask me Forza Motorsport 3 is where the series really hit its stride. The first two games in the series were great racing sims that went all-in with the sim aspect. With the third game in the series though, they have managed to still keep their king of the racing sim crown. However, they have also made this a game that is accessible to racers of all skill levels.

Easy On The Eyes

You cannot talk about a game in the Forza series without talking about the visuals. This game is such a massive step up from the second game in terms of its visuals. The over 400 hundred cars all look fantastic and are modeled to look just like they do in real life. Things like real damage and so on just add to the overall epicenes of the games look. The way you can edit the look of a car and make custom graphics is really cool too!

The tracks you will be racing on look great too and there is a ton of variety here. The game moves at a blistering pace and I have never once encountered any slowdown, even when many cars are all bunched up together.

A Real Career!

The career mode in Forza Motorsport 3 is one of the best I have played in a racing game and in many ways, it sets the stage for what was to come in the series. The career mode throws a ton of races your way, but what really sets it apart from the rest for me is the progression. The game has you leveling up and when you do, you get a brand-new car!

This is very addictive and it gets you to try out cars you may have never bothered to try. The selection of tracks and the races you take part in greatly depends on the cars you have which is pretty cool.

A Race For Anyone

This is a game that is for racing sim fans. It has so many different little “things” that it is very hard to explain them all. However, I will say that Forza Motorsport 3 offers as close to real racing as games could at the time. The racing is very action packed, tight and requires some real skill to win a race and be good at the game.

On the flip side of this, they have been very clever here with the difficulty settings. You can go into the options and change the difficulty level. Novice racers can have all kinds of assists turned on such as breaking and turning assists which give the game a much more arcade kind of feel to it. I think that this was a great idea and it certainly makes this a racing sim that is going to be able to be enjoyed by anyone.

I would not say that Forza Motorsport 3 is the best game in the whole series, but I really think that this is where the game really started to hit the stride that it has today. This is a blast to play from a sim point of view and even when you have a bunch of assists turned on too. The career mode is going to keep you very busy and in all this is a truly fantastic racing game.
