Custom Mech Wars is a game that allows you to customize a mech in an almost infinite variety of ways, which can lead to both hilarity and seriously cool builds. The developer takes pride in the extreme flexibility of the mech builds. Players can attach as many arms, legs, and other attachments as they want to the main frame of their mech. These limbs can be placed in any position the player wants as well.

The demo itself shows quite a bit of imagination, ranging from a tank with sexy legs to a mech with a gigantic gun strategically positioned to look like a penis. Other, less raunchy customized mechs shown include giant burgers or a simple, sleek looking train.

Take Your Handywork to War

What’s the fun in building a mech if you can’t do anything with it? The mechs players create can be taken out on missions to test out their worthiness in combat. The missions ask you to take down enemy robots and blow up buildings on the map.

Once enemy robots are defeated, the parts can be used to customize your mech even more. If you’ve ever played one of D3PUBLISHER’s early games, such as Earth Defense Forces, you should know what to expect from the game.

Multiplayer Available

As great as single player gaming is, there’s something to be said for multiplayer availability. Custom Mech Wars allows up to a four-person co-op, letting people get together to work on missions. This not only makes the missions easier (at least sometimes) but gives you a chance to see other people’s handiwork.

The ability to hang out with friends is one of the most important parts of having a game that encourages silliness. What’s the point of terrorizing a city in a giant Christmas stocking shaped mech if there’s no one else to see it? With the multiplayer function, there’s a chance someone else will also appreciate your efforts.

If you’re a fan of mechs and always wanted to make your game, Custom Mech Wars is about as good as it gets. The game allows you to customize a mech in just about any way you want, but also balances it with solid gameplay.

Collecting parts from missions helps give you a reason to keep going back, and the ability to show off your mechs to other people is a nice touch.
