Crimson Lust

Anytime I see a game describe itself as gothic, like Crimson Lust does, it always piques my interest and makes me want to play it. There is just something about the dark, moody, purple, and blackness of goth style that clicks with me, and I am always down for any game, especially a lewd one that is going to revel in that aesthetic. While I guess you could argue that the build I am talking about here today is more of a demo or even a proof of concept, as there is so little content in it. I had a fun time with this, and it got me checking to see if there was any word of an update or a new chapter, so it clearly had something that clicked with me!

The House on Haunted Hill

The version of Crimson Lust that I had the pleasure of playing did not have a whole lot of stuff going on as far as the story goes, but I can tell you the premise and what I interpreted this as. Basically, we are a goth chick who is in this big ass creepy mansion, and we are exploring it in order to find its secrets. However, as this is such an early build of the game, I never actually came across what these secrets could be. A buddy did say that he felt they were going for a similar vibe to the movie Crimson Peak, and I think that he may have a point there, as there is certainly something “ghostly” going on here.

If These Hallways Could Talk

If you asked me to say what kind of game Crimson Lust is, I would have to say that it is a walking simulator. Think of stuff like What Remains of Edith Finch, and you at least will have a base for what is going on. By that I mean, you just walk about this big gothic mansion, trying to find things that you can interact with, you watch what happens happen, and then you move on, trying to find the next interactive object. I am sure that there may be puzzles and extra hidden stuff to find in later builds of the game, but as of writing, what I just said is pretty much all there is as far as the gameplay goes.

Who Left These Here?

Even in the early build that I played, Crimson Lust is a great-looking game! To start with, our goth babe is super hot and pretty much the perfect woman whom I would sell my soul to spend five minutes with. The actual gothic mansion that the game takes place in is very cool. I love how dark and gothic the whole thing is, in many ways, it reminds me of the Lady D castle from Resident Evil Village, but not as dilapidated. The XXX content is a lot of fun as you come across sex toys as you explore, and we get to see our goth hottie engage in a little bit of fun with them. Although with everything else being so dark and moody, I kind of wish that the sex toys were not brightly colored.

A Peak Through The Curtain

Some people may play the build of Crimson Lust that I did and be kind of mad that this would even be released, as there is so little content in the game. However, I am a glass half full kind of guy, and instead of seeing this as the bare minimum of what could be classed as a game. I see the possibilities of what this could be! The little bit of exploration of the gothic mansion that the game lets you do is very well done and something that I found to be fun. However, if they give you more areas to explore, some puzzles to solve, and more narrative, this could be one heck of a fun and immersive XXX game.
