BangCity

With a title like BangCity, how can this not grab your attention? This is one of those games that I have been meaning to get round to playing for a while now. I noticed that it has a real mixed reception online and I have to admit, I can see why. I would probably put myself somewhere in the middle, to be honest with you. I would not say that it is bad, but it is not great either. Thankfully, it does have some great character renders and if you do not take the story too seriously you may get a chuckle or two out of it.

Leaving The Past Behind Me… By Doing The Same Thing

I have no freaking clue what the heck is really going on with the story in BangCity. The city which is actually called Bang City is a corrupt and dangerous place where gangsters (some hit chick gangsters) and politicians who are as corrupt as the criminals live. Our MC was a gangster, but once he went down, he decided to get out and start over, but he is starting over by getting revenge…yeah, it does make sense, add to this and he has some real “mommy” issues and it can be hard to keep track of. However, I found some of it hilarious and I just went with it and had a much better time as a result.

Pretending To Play In A Sandbox

The way that they describe the gameplay of BangCity is as if it were an open world sandbox style of game. Technically, I guess you would have to put this in the sandbox category as it is not just a straight visual novel and there are certainly different areas that you have to go to. However, most of the stuff you do here is very, very linear. There are a few choices here and there and that does keep you going and gives the illusion of choice, but I found the game and the story to be far more linear than I thought it would be.

Living The Life… The Good Life!

There are some stunning character renders in BangCity! I especially love the mom and there is this chick in a trailer park type place that I wish got more attention. You do have some rather ugly male dudes, but for the most part, this is a game that is very easy on the eyes. There are plenty of sex scenes in the game and they are animated too. The animation is not the smoothest that I have ever seen, but it is still good to see.

Pros:

• The game has a story that makes no sense, but it kind of works
• The linear aspect of the game made it easier to get through
• There is plenty of lewd content in the game
• Some may like the “gangster” story

Cons:

• The story is all over the freaking place
• The gameplay is very linear and pushes you in the direction it wants
