Ok, At Midnight is the kind of game that you will beat in one sitting, but this is a bit harder than you may be expecting. This is best described as a lewd point-and-click adventure game, and it has a super fun premise. I managed to beat the game in a pretty short gaming session, but it did have me scratching my head at one point. It has a really funky art style, and the idea behind the game is a lot of fun and something I am sure more than a few people are going to be able to relate to.

Tonight Is The Night!

There is very little story in At Midnight, but that is ok, because we have a premise here that is pretty awesome and honestly something I am surprised more lewd games have not tried to do. The basics are that our main character is a horny young guy who has had enough, and tonight is the night that he is finally going to get laid! He is going to head out into the street and find a hottie that is going to take his virginity, and it is going to be the greatest night of his life. There is next to no text here; you just know the premise, and then you are on your way.

It's coming up, It’s coming up….. It's DARE!

I am a big fan of the art style that the developer of the game has gone for. The main character we play as in At Midnight reminds me of a mix between 2D and Murdoc from the band The Gorillaz. Actually, the whole game has this kind of zany and weird, almost dreamlike look about it that I think is very neat. I do not mean this in a negative way, but it is almost like the game has been done in a basic paint program. The characters look great, but there is just something unique and cool about them, which I thought was very cool. There are only a couple of sex scenes in the game, but they look cool and are animated quite smoothly.

Where The Heck Is It???

As I have said a few times at this point, At Midnight is like a point-and-click adventure game that tasks you with finding things and taking them where they need to go. It is quite basic, but it is made all the more challenging by not giving the player any hints for some of the things that you have to do. The second stage that the game has is very challenging in this regard, as I honestly had no idea what to do and just got lucky with the area of the screen I clicked on. This rather obscure nature of the game may not click with everyone, but I liked it; it felt like it made it a more challenging experience.

Taking It All In

As I said, At Midnight is a short game, and to be honest, it only took as long as it did for me to beat it as I had trouble knowing what to do on that second stage. Now that I know, I could probably blow through this in ten or so minutes I think. While some of you may see this as a negative, I think that this is one of the game's strengths. We live in a day and age where there are just tons of lewd games to choose from, many of which are long RPGs or story-driven lewd visual novels. I appreciate when there is a shorter, but still fun game like this to play in between those longer and more demanding experiences.

7.5

I get that the rather cryptic nature of the second part of the game may put some people off, but I still had a blast playing through At Midnight. The game has a super fun premise, and it is very easy to relate to a horny guy who just wants to get laid for the first time, so you feel like you really want to help him on his quest. If you are looking for something short to play, I highly recommend that you give this one a try. Plus, it has a very funky art style, which I thought was very cool.

Pros:

  • I liked the premise of the story
  • The art style has a very unique look to it
  • The point-and-click adventure gameplay is fun and pretty challenging
  • This was a great distraction between bigger games

Cons:

  • That second part/stage is very cryptic
  • The lack of any real story may bother some people
